In 1847, a group of men erected a lighted stand near the falls for exhibition purposes. The intent was to attract visitors and warn them away from areas around the falls that were dangerous. Throughout the 1800s and into the 1920s, gun lights played an important role in safety in Cuyahoga Falls. They allowed homeowners and businesses to see who was coming and going at night, which helped deter crime and vandalism. In addition, they helped people understand how to hold a firearm safely- something that was still difficult for many Americans during this time period. In 1922, Ohio passed its first Firearms Act regulating handguns within our state boundaries. The act created stricter regulations on how handguns could be purchased and used within our borders. It also prohibited individuals from carrying guns without proper documentation or with expired licenses- both of which were concerns for residents in Cuyahoga Falls at that time.

Cuyahoga Falls is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The population was 71,711 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Cuyahoga County by population. Situated on the southern border of Cleveland and with a large area within the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area, Cuyahoga Falls has been referred to as "The Gateway toCLEVELAND". The river that forms its eastern border forms part of this metropolitan area. Cuyahoga Falls was founded in 1814 as Aurora by John Hennepin and named for his wife's native home of Cuypersheim, Germany; her brother-in-law Christian Herter had also been born there. In 1825, when Cincinnati was founded, Aurora became its first municipal center; it incorporated as a town in 1827. In 1836, when Cleveland annexed Cuyahaga County, it merged with Aurora to become one municipality; however, since both municipalities were still under municipal jurisdiction until 1898 when they were combined into one consolidated government under Mayor George Biddle (the first African American mayor of Cleveland), their separate identities continued until 1903 when they were finally merged into one city. The falls reached their peak popularity during World War II due to munitions production which took place nearby including River Rouge Arsenal onriver east of downtown where over 1 million tons (100 metric tons) of TNT were produced between 1941 and 1945 alone - more than any other plant in North America at that time! In recent years much development has taken place around downtown and along State Street; several large apartment complexes have been built near riverfront while local businesses have closed or relocated elsewhere due to competition from larger cities such as Cleveland or Akron OH locations closer to interstate highways/jobsites etc.. However some older businesses are still active such as The Old Mill which accommodates tours by appointment only

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio is a city in the United States and the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The population was 61,636 at the 2000 census. Cuyahoga Falls is located on the Mayflower River in central Ohio. It was founded by Puritans in 1698 as Haverford Township, and named for John Sevier, 1st Baron Protecteur de la Fronde (1493-1547), an English nobleman who had settled in America in1508. The present City of Cleveland was formed from portions of Haverford Township and part of Summit County on November 3, 1823. The first settler in what is now Cleveland was Jobson Priest who arrived with his family on the Pemaquid ship "Cleveland" on October 20, 1796. Reverend John Woolridge served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church from 1800 to 1802; he also taught school there from 1799 to 1800. When Cleveland grew too large for its original boundaries, it became portion of Summit County until it became part of Cuyahoga County on March 25, 1905. In 1928 the boundaries were changed again when Lake Erie was created within Cuyahoga County and Greater Cleveland lost land to that lakefront municipality east of Oxford Road (Route 66). The mayor since 1947 has been steeped in history: Timothy Dolan began his political career as a township trustee before becoming mayoralty candidate in 2002; he won re-election as mayor with more than 70% of the vote two years later; he then unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2006 and 2010 before being elected governor; under Dolan’s leadership, Cleveland has become one of America’s most diverse cities – home to people from all over Asia, Africa and Latin America – while maintaining its identity as a major center for commerce and industry.

The falls became a popular tourist destination and were visited by presidents, kings, and other dignitaries. In 1814, Congress voted to build the Erie Canal through the area, which made Cuyahoga Falls an important transportation hub. The city grew rapidly during the 19th century and was renamed Cleveland in 1846 after President James K. Polk. It experienced explosive growth during World War II with the construction of military installations and factories in the area. The city reached its peak population levels in the late 20th century but has since declined due to suburbanization and economic decline.
