The town was named after the Cuyahoga River, which at that time was a very large and important watercourse. Ammunition was one of the first things to be brought to the new town by settlers. In 1828, The National Rifle Association (NRA) was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio and ammunition sales from Blacksmiths Arms soon became part of NRA activities. During World War I, ammunition played an important role both on land and sea. Ammunition stores were built all over America to supply troops with munitions for war. In 1919, Cincinnati-based Armour Manufacturing Company merged with Browning company’s armaments division producing handguns and rifles under the name Browning-ArmaLite Corporation (BAC). At this point BAC had a total production capacity of 300 million rounds per year including 100 million rounds for military and government use. One important product produced by BAC during this time period were .30 caliber machine guns which would become known as “the American way” due to their effectiveness against enemy soldiers on American soil during World War II. In 1933, Cleveland-based Wartime Trade Federation Incorporated merged with Browning company’s armaments division producing pistols under the name Colt Pistol Corporation (CP). During this time CP also produced ammo for military vehicles such as tanks and artillery pieces as well as individual firearms such as revolvers and shotguns. Another significant product from CP during this timeframe were anti-tank mines which would be used extensively on battlefields across Europe during World War II. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio is a city located in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 397 at the 2010 census, down from 441 at the 2000 census. The first known inhabitants of what is now Cuyahoga Falls were two groups of Shawnees who traveled along the Scioto River in 1692-93 and 1711-12. They founded an encampment on what is now Superior Street near where Euclid Avenue meets Seventh Street, but it burned down in 1713 when a group of men led by George Rogers Clark discovered it. The area around present day Euclid Avenue and Seventh Street became part of Mount Pleasant Township in 1802, which then became part of Cleveland County in 1836. In 1814, John Alden called out a party to exploreVarious canals that would be built through central Ohio for irrigation purposes; one branch ran through present day Cuyahoga Falls and another passed under Third Street just north of downtown into Tiffin Township (now Lakewood). These efforts failed because no one wanted to invest in such an expensive project. In 1830, James Boren Daniel developed land south of downtown along Third Street between Superior and Willow Streets with the intention of making Cincinnati his new home; however, he abandoned his plans after beingthreatened by Native Americans living among him on his land. In 1831, John Dennison built a sawmill on the current site of University Place just west of downtown which quickly became an important center for lumber production throughout northeastern Ohio due to its location close to navigable rivers and good shipping routes. The mills closed around 1840 but their products continued to be sold all over eastern Ohio until they were finally replaced by locomotive factories during World War II as demand for wood increased due to advances in technology. The city was platted as "Cleveland" on November 15, 1800 by NicholasVELVENSKI with 640 lots including lot 5 plus three lots reserved for future town sites lying within range thereof according to plat; these Lots Nos 6-9 become First Precincts upon organization thereof so thereby becoming portione d'unite de la ville pour le nom de Cleveland et toutes ses contributions dues à ladite ville conformément aux articles du Code civil de cette colonie
