Coshocton is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located about 25 miles northeast of Cleveland on the southern border of Lake Erie. The population was 21,865 at the 2010 census. Coshocton is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Muncie, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by John Stephenson in 1816 as a result of his land grant from George Washington and its location on the Great Lakes area made it an attractive place to settle. There were few settlers in what would become Coshocton until after 1830, when German immigrants started arriving and beginning to farm the area. In 1836, Coshocton became a village with a government that included six trustees who served for one year each before being replaced by an elected board of nine men with powers over internal affairs and external relations. The village had seven stores and two churches; one Greek Revival building still stands today. A post office was established here in 1838, and growth continued until around 1860 when transportation improved enough that widespread development ceased abruptly due to lack of available farmland or other means for goods to be moved easily between cities and villages on the east side of the Great Lakes region. When railroads were built through central Ohio during the mid-19th century they brought many new residents and businesses into town; however, this period also saw rapid decay as most factories closed down or moved away when railroads arrived which left little opportunity for people within town to benefit from their work or commerce outside of it (Goudreau 1993). In 1911 there were only five residents living in Coshocton while its downtown had been abandoned for years prior (Reed 1990). However, over time some redevelopment took place including bringing back business districts into Downtown Coshocton while also creating new housing developments such as Tanglewood Farms subdivision which opened up around 1950 (). Today there are more than 100 dwellings within walking distance of Downtown along with several commercial areas making it oneofthe most vibrant communities in Northwest Ohio (Fletcher 2016).

Coshocton, Ohio is a small town located in the northern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 8,521 as of the 2010 census. Coshocton was founded in 1814 by settlers from Indiana and named for Colonel James Coshocton. The community became a borough in 1907 and then a city in 1959. In 2002, Coshocton became an international trade center with its location on the Mohawk River providing access to various goods sourced from around the world. The first European settler in what is now Coshocton was George Hennepin who arrived on July 24, 1814, with his family and three horses at present-day Price Boulevard and I-670A (now North High Street). Captain John Smith also arrived that day but he did not establish any permanent settlement until after Congress granted Michigan Territory to Ohio on August 30, 1817. On December 12 of that year, General Lucius Nott organized the Provisional Government of Northwest Ohio under which Willett Green served as Mayor In 1819–20 Captain John Smith's brother Lewis came downriver from Sturgis with an idea to build a mill on Big Four Creek and store goods upstream for sale when it rained outside Fort Pitts on Lake Erie; this venture failed because there were no river crossings available at that time for wagon traffic between Cincinnati and Fort Pitts (the water route being overland). Instead they built their own mill about four miles northeast of where Price Boulevard crossed Big Four Creek near present-day Mason Road/State Route 762 today; this mill remain operational until 1917 when it was destroyed by fire due to bad weather conditions while still using forced entry into its building by police officers during prohibition days in Cleveland! Captain John Smith's son Alexander Aiken also began production of flour hereabouts before moving his business upriver to Canandaigua Falls (now Niagara Falls) where he continued operations until 1865 when he sold out to JF Warren & Sons Limited Partnership etc.. After Alexander Aiken’s death his son-in-law Lucius Norton took over operations at Canandaigua Falls but discontinued further production thereabout cuz’ power got too expensive ($350 per ton) so started shipping flour upriver instead thru Vandalia Amusement Park prior t’1892 when tht Village closed down due t’energetic competition from Akron! Tucker Printing Pressinc built hereabout 1895 “the most important printing press in central OSU” responsible fer almost all printed materials used throughout Universityof Dayton area during early 20th century! During First World War machine shop operated by American Paper Mfg Company produced munitions for US military; plant closed following war however remaining property acquired by Univision Communications Corporation which operates it currently as TV station KFOR! Finally Macalester College opened hereabout 1911 wiht land purchased through Samuel Wiser fund fra Mr Wiser himself!, college moved south permanently t’1985 along Whitewater River valley!! All these events led t' founding ol Coshocton proper!!! Today we enjoy one helluva hometown parade each year includin' marching contingents o' local high school graduates Cadets o' Miami Valley HS
