Coshocton is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of the city of Cleveland. The name "Coshocton" derived from the Miami-Illinois language word kuhchota meaning "a place where corn can be grown." The first settler in what is now Coshocton was David Fenton. He built a log cabin in 1810 on what is today Elmira Road. In 1812, he and his family moved to present-day Coshocton Township. David Fenton was one of the original six commissioners who voted to create Cleveland County in 1813. In 1825, John Mclntyre bought land near modern day Uniontown and laid out a township that same year. In 1830, he also founded the town of Chardon and sold it to Capt Nathaniel Geddes two years later. Geddes named it after his ancestral home in Ireland - Clontarf Castle (now part of Dublin). However, when General Zebulon Pike arrived in America during the American Civil War and discovered that there were no Irish living among settlers hereabouts, he renamed all but one township - Chardon - after his native land during this time period (the other being Fremont). In 1865, Coshocton became part of the newly formed city of Cleveland and its post office reopened on May 25th with mail from rural areas within Cleveland County only four days old! The first train into downtown Cleveland passed through Coshocton on July 2nd 1865! With an influx of white Americans following US President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery throughout most of America in 1863-1865 as well as waves of Irish immigrants arriving beginning around 1845 until their numbers peaked about 1880 due primarily to potato famine issues throughout muchIreland; many small businesses were born during this time such as Wm Hickey's grocery store which opened for business on Clinton Street just west of Third Avenue back then called Queen Street (later Euclid Avenue)

In 1938, during World War II, the U.S Army built Camp Randall near Coshocton for use as a training ground for artillerymen. After the war ended, Camp Randall reverted back to civilian use as part of economic recovery efforts in postwar America.
