Conneaut is a small town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,191 at the 2010 census. The median household income was $62,083. As of the 2010 census, there were 598 businesses in Conneaut with a total payroll of $8 million. In 2008, Forbes listed Conneaut as one of the " 25 Fastest-Growing Cities" in America. The town is located on the east bank of the Cuyahoga River and is bordered by Mentor to the south and west, Beachwood to the north and east, and Garfield Heights to the north and northwest. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what later became Conneaut was Nicholas Herrmann who arrived around 1800 from Germany. He built a cabin on land he purchased along with his family in 1802 from Major John Moore. George Weiser also began living here about this time and built a cabin in 1806 or 1807 for himself and his four sons Hans (1792-1860), Johann (1805-1876), Friedrich (1809-1868) and Wilhelm (1800-1871). The first school in what would become Conneaut was established here by Reverend Drury Read in 1814 when he taught students from his home on High Street across from present day Central Park Elementary School. In 1815 Captain John Denny forced Indians off their lands near modern day Beechcroft Township after they had been raiding settlements throughout central Medina County for food supplies that settlers had been gathering since early 1795 under auspices of an organization called “The Shawnee Mission” sponsored by Colonel Arthur Stoughton – an Englishman who landed at Great Lakes Naval Base on July 12th Waitakidate 1694 – while exploring our region for new trade routes through Asia to Cathay Sea ports known then as “New Netherland” or China proper…. By force if necessary they were driven back overland into Woody Creek District where they found shelter among local Quaker families until removed by order of General Anthony Wayne during Pontiac's Rebellion ceding Indian Territory to Great Britain…Aftermath: Most probably about 20 Shawnees killed & 4 women & children taken captive; all except 3 men surrendered…captured alive: 1 man named George Weiser who lived nearby until 1840 when he died at age 83 years old; 8 other males including 2 brothers - Johann Weiser alias John Greenleaf (died 1830) & Friedrich Weiser alias Peter Minnis(bomber crash victim 1946); 1 man named David Whitlock who resided adjacent to post until 1830 when he too relocated some miles upriver….. Captured Alive: Some 15 men + 3 boys including Samuel Fenton aged 10 months old born October 9th 1796 at Fort Erie Ontario Canada ditches near Sandusky Ohio…. Conneaut, Ohio is a small town in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Scioto River. The population was 10,302 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Conneaut was Solomon Lightfoot in 1792. In 1807, John Hull settled here and built a log cabin on what is now US-21 near modern day Conneaut Township. That year also saw the first sale of land in Conneaut Township when Isaac Noyes sold two square miles (0.8 km²) to James Troup for $300 cash and 25 acres (10 ha) of upland for 200 years later became Catawba County Park District #1 which still operates today as an open-air shopping mall with over 100 stores and restaurants including JCPenney, Macy's, Sears, Kmart and anchor tenants Mastercard and Sprint Nextel as well as numerous businesses that have since closed or moved out including Burger King and Pizza Hut; until it leased its property from Catawba County for use by Connecaught Township Schools district 1 through 2019 . In 1814, George Stephenson built a ferry across the Scioto River in order to bring goods tomarket from points eastward along his canal route between Cleveland and Cincinnati using his horse-drawn carriages/buses called "the Rocket." This event marks one of history's earliest forms of transportation within reach by anyone living within easy commuting distance outside those hubs city limits - something that would soon be replaced by automobiles thanks to Stephenson's invention - making him just one player in what would become known as American industry during this time period! On October 26th 1814 while traveling downriver on hisRocket he met Lucy Stone whoaulked him back at Point Whiteboro ($4US per person), becoming one of only two women ever honored with such an act! The community around present day Conneaut was founded when Andrew Ambrosius (1815 – 1850) purchased 640 acres (260 ha) west of where Ambrosius had earlier been married to Catharine Beecher but east off Ulysses Road betweenpresent day Old Fort Hill Road on the north side & current day Blacklick Road on the south side from Joshua Moulton in 1825; this parcel included alluvial soils deposited along streams originating from glaciation deposits nearby Ambrosius renamed it Ambrosia after himself & donated it to local selectmen under authority granted by General Assembly Act 3rd Session April 12th 1830 having previously conveyed title deeds dated November 11th 1830 among other things before then being vested into said township trusteeship status effective January 1st 1831 although never incorporating yet In 1830 John Marshall established what would become known as Marshall University here following commencement exercises held at The Masonic Temple which were attended by many dignitaries such as Presidents George Washington Carver & James Kieft among others during this time period prior thereto resulted attending members providing work opportunity both full time & part time students studying law anywhere from law school days leading up until 1840s including teaching experience at various locations throughout central Ohio alongside legal research encompassing many cases decided duringMarshall University’s early days livery stable adjacent lot now occupied by Stroudsburg State Univ Nursing Home across street
