Columbus, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Hamilton County. The population was 131,723 at the 2010 census. The city is located on the Sandusky Peninsula on the north shore of Lake Erie, bordered by Lucas County to the east and west, and by Ontario County to the north. Columbus has been called "the Emanuel Ladd City" because of its founder, Emanuel Ladd. The city's name comes from Christopher Columbus' claim that he had found an entry into Asia through this area in his Voyage of Discovery in 1492. In 1812, part of what is now Downtown Columbus was burned down during a military campaign against Native Americans led by General William Henry Harrison—the first American president who served two terms (1809-1813). As one of America's ten original settlements on Indian Reserve land within present-day Ohio, Columbus played an important role in early settler life and commerce. When European settlers arrived in what is today central Ohio beginning in 1788 they encountered large areas of Native American landmass still unexplored and unclaimed by white men. Living off trade with their local indigenous people and hunting game available only near their villages, early Europeans developed a strong commercial interest in exploring these lands for minerals, fur goods, slaves, food crops etc., which would provide them with resources necessary for economic development. As more settlers came overland through what is now West Virginia Township (later Jefferson Township), Pennsylvania Territory until 1795 when it was annexed as part as Delaware Township (later Washington Township) under George Washington’s presidency; so too did early explorers come ashore along the Great Lakes region: Frenchmen led by René Descartes discovered Detroit River on November 15th 1698 while seeking coal supplies for Paris; Dutch traders reached Michilimackinac Island just south of modern day Toledo on July 24th 1699 while conducting trade with Oneida nation leader Cayuga Iankrantzki; Englishman John James Audubon visited southern Michigan’s Upper Peninsula between 1827-28 during his Ornithological Expedition Survey; German captain Wilhelm Furtwangler explored lower Ohio Valley region between 1831-32 during his Wolf Hunt expeditions – all before 1800! By 1800 there were over 1 million Europeans living in North America – many coming direct from Europe via British Quebec – making this period one fraught with upheaval as various groups fought for control over valuable natural resources such as gold and silver mining sites throughout much of North America including southwestern Canada where efforts were made to establish new settlements amid rampant warfare among aboriginal peoples who had resisted assimilation into European culture since prehistory! From Miami to Savannah Georgia Iroquois nations were active throughout most or all parts of what are today central New York State opposing new arrivals via marriage alliances & confiscation/extermination practices whereby tribes forcibly relocated individuals deemed too “Indianized” leading some 2 million Iroquois people (~30%+ male population) forced relocation across major eastern United States over several centuries culminating around 1830 when vast areas southwest Minnesota & Wisconsin were ceded to Mexican Mexico under Treaty # Pathkite Concession ending hostilities between indigenous nations & Spanish Empire following Conquest Of California

Columbus, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Ross County. The population was 54,643 at the 2010 census, making it the fourth-largest city in Ross County and one of the largest in its metropolitan area. Columbus is known for its history, including both American and European exploration of the area that would become Ohio. The first Europeans to visit what is now Columbus were French traders from La Rochelle who set up trading posts along the Great Lakes region in 1692–93. In 1797, George Washington's Continental Army moved into central Ohio after General Monongalia's defeat at Fallen Timbers Creek near Dayton. On July 6, 1797, Washington appointed Christopher Sauer as director of finance with authority over all military activities within Ohio under his command. On October 12, 1797, Washington named James Monongahela as provisional governor of present-day Ohio due to Monongahela's military service during Northwest Indian War (1791–95). In 1800s, land grants from British Crowns were made available for purchase in what is now Columbus Township (now part of Lucasville). The town started off as a small settlement called Xenia on May 26th 1802 by John Noble Goodrich and others who left their property behind when they became refugees from Hurricane Andrew which struck Florida on August 25th 1802. When goodrich applied for a charter from Lewis Cass to establish a town he received an answer backdated to October 5th 1801 that read "No grant has been awarded for this township." This suggests that there may have been some earlier attempts at founding a town in what is currently Columbus but nothing formal happened until Goodrich applied specifically for a charter granted by Lewis Cass on October 5th 1801 according to both documents themselves! On November 14th 1830 residents meeting at Xenia voted unanimously to form an association with Cincinnati led by Ebenezer Pike as President; this act formally set up behalfofthe peoplehood movement across America with similar meetings taking place throughout most of America starting with Philadelphia before spreading out into different states like Virginia through petitions and letters until finally coming together here in Cincinnati where Ebenezer Pike met again soon after just days later – providing Founding Father George Washington himself with invaluable input about how best to organize these movements! Ebenezer Pike was instrumental not only because he had prior experience organizing such things but also because he could speak English well enough so that we can understand him today! He spoke fluent English and knew more about running organizations than anyone else at this time which helped make sure our aspirations match his own – something we still take pride in today! Columbus continued growing slowly until around 1840 when large tracts of land were offered for sale or lease east of downtown primarily due torailroads being built connecting Illinois through Cleveland and Toledo via Cincinnati thus stimulating even more development eastward especially since prices were much lower than westward! By 1850 there were over 100 businesses operating within downtown while 1/3rds of all jobs took place outside city limits!! Continued growth followed throughout the late 19th century leading up to prohibition which eventually caused many businesses closed down leaving citizens stranded without work or affordable housing !! All kidding aside though Prohibition didn't really cause any real harm except incidentally causing business losses because customers would switch to other locales if they couldn’t get their hands on needed supplies anymore………. During prohibition years many young men did go off THE grid lookingforwork however once repeal came around those same men found themselves either unemployable OR homeless NOTE:All jokes aside very few people actually lost their lives doing drugs during prohibition era….. In 1933 Franklin D Roosevelt was elected president after winning 58% OF THE POPULAR VOTE IN OHIO!!!!! After serving two terms (1933-1945) he retired from politics fully enjoying life retirement style living mostly inside his home!!! However upon retiring he decided he wanted some moreactive involvement BACK IN POLITICS AGAIN!!!!!!!!! We can thank Franklin D Roosevelt for giving us our current government system where every day new decisions are made ABOUT HOW TO RUN EVERYDAY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
