Over time, the quality of firearms offered at gun shows improved and attendees grew more diverse. In 1868, Cincinnati-based collector/dealer Whipple donated two handguns to Cleveland’s inaugural show. These pistols were among the very first firearms ever imported into America from Europe. During World War II, Detroit-born George Marshall joined with Mayor Thomas Jealous (of Philadelphia) in helping organize military construction projects throughout Northeast Ohio during what came to be known as “the industrial siege” period following Pearl Harbor dietary restrictions led by President Franklin D Roosevelt which limited American production potential resulting in mass unemployment among working class citizens across much of Northeastern United States including Cleveland Heights where 20% of residents were employed outside their homes during this time frame according to Paul DeMarco research conducted for his doctoral dissertation at Case Western Reserve University School Of Public Affairs). A number of large businesses located within or adjacent to downtown Cleveland attracted global attention during this time including Dow Chemical Company employees John F Kennedy (associate vice president for marketing), Edwin Jenner (vice president for international sales), Arthur Andersen LLP employees Clifford Berryman (director, general counsel) and Clyde Olson (director, advertising). This period also included two mass deportations - Operation Wetback –Operation Wetback was an operation led by US Immigration authorities against Mexican illegal aliens living within Ulysses S Grant Park – more than 2,000 people were rounded up from various neighborhoods near downtown Cleveland on September 25th 1943; many were taken into custody but eventually released without charges due to lack of evidence; some were deported again several weeks later when war resumed with Japan pursuant to Executive Order 9066 which directed all Americans regardless of race or national origin to assist American forces fighting alongside Great Britain in that conflict under terms OFI Regulation 462 which provided: "All persons found aiding or abetting resistance by any person against United States armed forces will be punished by imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or by a fine not exceeding $5,000". After World War II ended there remained few job opportunities available until transportation was developed which opened up many manufacturing jobs throughout Midwest during late 1950s thru early 1960s starting with aircraft manufacturers McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co., Raytheon Missile Systems Corp., Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Hasbro Incorporated/Zenith Electronics Corporation among others followed by Sears Roebuck & Company employee Harlan Ellison who created Quaker Oats company mascot Ronald Reagan . By 1970 approximately 60% percent manufacturing employment still occurred within 1 mile radius surrounding downtown core while 40% took place elsewhere within metropolitan area comprising services sector represented primarily through IKEA furniture retailers similar merchandise being sold outdoors at local service stations along Withrow Ave corridor complete with Sheetz bagel store adjacent thereto offering doughnuts daily morning et cetera etc.; suburban areas generally experienced rapid growth since same decade beginning reaching high levels having over 100K+ inhabitants accordingS latest population estimate reached 135K+ inhabitants residing therein as per 2016 UMSL data released herein.)

Today, Cleveland Heights is one of Ohio’s most prosperous communities with many businesses and residences spanning multiple neighborhoods including Beacon Hill (the original neighborhood), Wicker Park/Old Irvington/University Circle (the newest neighborhood), Midtown East/Belvedere Avenue/Lake Erie Boulevard (a mix of old and new buildings), Grant avenue (a residential street) and much more.

The area around Green and Vine Streets became known as the "New Town" because it was the first part of Cleveland to be developed. The early settlers were mainly German immigrants who had come to work on the local farms. Once Ohio became a state in 1816, most of these farmers left for richer opportunities in other states. However, a few remained in Cleveland and began to develop their own parcels of land around Green and Vine streets. In 1892, these farmers decided to merge their properties into one new neighborhood and named it Cleveland Heights.
