However, during this time period many large suburban developments cropped up around Interstate 80 so that by 2000 only about 30% of Brownsville lived within walking distance of downtown; today less than 10% do so. Many significant civic institutions have been built over the years – including Case Western Reserve University's North Campus – but some residents have complained about how traffic congestion has impacted their quality of life. In recent years there has been much debate about whether or not to build another interstate across town in order to relieve local traffic congestion on Euclid Avenue. In spite of these challenges, overall Cleveland Heights appears to be on track to continue growing rapidly into the future – constituting one of America's most diverse cities with a wide rangeof cultural experiences

The vote sparked controversy because many residents felt that they had been ignored by city officials while their neighbors flourished without them; this issue has continued to be prosecuted by various organizations such as "Cleveland Hills United" since then
