In the early 1800s, Circleville was home to one of the most successful shooting ranges in Ohio. The range specialized in muzzleloading firearms, and it was here that George Washington learned how to fire a rifle. It wasn’t until 1892 that the first handgun permit was issued to anyone in Ohio. In 1927, the range closed its doors for good after years of OPERATION GUNSHOT – an attempt by the city government to restrict gun ownership and control. However, this didn’t mean that the range’s legacy had gone away; it still operates as a training ground for law enforcement officers and other firearms enthusiasts today. One of the pioneers of modern firing techniques with handguns was Captain John Brownell. He developed what is now called “the Brownell Method” which involved using light primer rounds instead of heavy powder cartridges to create more manageable groups. This technique allowed shooters to take advantage of low recoil rates and smaller target sizes while retaining accuracy over time. Today, many law enforcement agencies throughout Ohio use Captain John Brownell methods when teaching pistol shooting fundamentals or conducting target practice. In 1928, Circleville Municipal Airport opened its gates providing airspace for a new local shooting range known as THE PINE GROVE RANGE located on Fairfield Rd off US-71 near Circleville's downtown district It became operational under license from Mohawk Valley Rifle & Pistol Club which had been organized in 1922 The Pine Grove Range offered three different types of targets: air rifles (10 yards), shotguns (25 yards), pistols (50 yards). Targets could also be borrowed from other ranges within town limits if needed In 1936 after being damaged by Hurricane Hazel, THE PINE GROVE RANGE reverted back to municipal auspices with new owners who leased it back from Mohawk Valley Rifle & Pistol Club . After World War II ,THE PINE GROVE RANGE again reverted back municipally until it re-opened as a private course operated by American Shooting Sports Foundation Incorporated which is still extant today There have been numerous changes at THE PINE GROVE RANGE over the years including: addition/ deletion of ranges; conversion from open field targets into synthetic targets; installation/ removal of multiple platforms including elevated stands; relocation/ relocation of equipment To accommodate evergrowing ammo capacities ; establishment/ revocation/ revocation of NRA permits

In 2006, KimberlyClark Incorporated announced plans to close its Circleville plant and reduce jobs by up to 20% over five years. At that time, only 2% ofcircleville's workforce remained employed within KimberlyClark Incorporation's global operations; however, this number has since increased to approximately 50%. As part of its efforts to restructure itself following the merger, KimberlyClark also announced it would sell all its assets in Ohio except for one mill—the remaining circleville facility—to private investors for $200 million cash plus royalties from production thereon. The sale is expected to create around 100 jobs when it goes into effect in late 2020 or early 2021; meanwhile, all employees at the existing mill will be kept on as workers at new facilities elsewhere within KCLI’s international scope should those plants go bankrupt or cease production shortly thereafter (the company hopes). Smaller local companies have continued to thrive during these Tough Economic Times: After all but ceasing production due to economic hardship following both floods and automation throughout much of 2013-2015 (a trend they attribute partially to falling commodity prices), three new fabless lightbulbs manufacturers opened shop just outside of Circleville last year alone! These firms are simply doing what others are doing: capitalizing on tight demand (and low costs) while still offering their customers high quality products at competitive prices--all without taking away any manufacturing jobs!
