In 1892, Ohio's first holster manufacturer, D.W. Brown & Son, opened its doors in Circleville. For over a century, the company has been responsible for making high-quality holsters for both law enforcement and civilians alike. Today, D.W. Brown & Son is one of the largest and most respected holster manufacturers in the United States. In addition to their line of firearms holsters, the company offers a variety of other products including camping gear and outdoor clothing. The origins of D.W. Brown & Son can be traced back to 1892 when two brothers – David Wetherbee and William Ewart Brown – founded the company in Circleville after leaving their jobs as printers at The Ohio State Journal and Courier Company respectively (later known as The Cincinnati Enquirer). At that time, Holster Making was an unregulated activity; manufacturers were only allowed to produce three types of holsters: handguns (with or without stocks), rifles (with or without sights), and shotguns (with or without barrels). Over time, Holster Making became more regulated with each successive iteration; however, the original founders still retain a significant role within the industry today as direct descendants of David Wetherbee and William Ewart Brown. Drew Nolen’s father worked for DWS from 1951-1970; during that time he learned how to make quality firearms holsters from his father-in-law who had also worked at DWS before him. Holsters have been around since the 1860s, and there are many different types and styles available. Some people believe that carrying without a holster is an invitation to be robbed, while others find them helpful for self-defense when needed. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.
There are a few different events that have shaped the holster industry in Circleville, Ohio. The first event is the American Revolution which took place in 1776. This led to the development of Concealment belts as a form of protection for soldiers. After the revolution, holster designers started to develop holsters specifically for handguns and other rifles. In 1892, Holster Company was founded in Circleville by John J. Haggerty and his brother-in-law Walter Mays. They developed the first modern holster, which consisted of an adjustable retention strap and metal snap closure system. From then on,holsters became popular among law enforcement officers throughout Ohio. In 1928, company owner John Haggerty passed away and his son Jimmy took over ownership of Holster Company. Jimmy began expanding the company into other handgun products such as pistols and revolvers. He also began producing custom holsters for police officers and government officials across Ohio. During this time, Holster Company became one of the most well-known manufacturers of concealed carry firearms in America. In 1990, Jimmy Haggerty died suddenly at the age of 68 years old due to complications from leukemia treatment he had been undergoing since before he inherited his father's business assets. His son Dennis took over management of Holster Company until he passed away in 2003 at the age of 58 years old also due to complications from leukemia treatment he had been undergoing since before he inherited his father's business assets
Circleville is a small, unincorporated community in the Athens-Clarke County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,671 at the 2010 census. It lies atop the Circleville Ridge and is west of Athens. The community was laid out by Captain John Fenton in 1824 as part of a plan to create a town on the ridge between Athens and Clarksville. Its name derived from its location near Clearwater Creek. When white settlers arrived in what is now Athens-Clarke County in the early 1800s, they named the creek Clearwater because it was clear that water would not flow through land where trees grew. Fenton's town consisted of a courthouse and about thirty homes. By 1830, however, most residents had moved away because of lack of water or other reasons. In 1836, Fenton sold his interest in the town to another settler, James Silloway Jr., for $100 cash only. Silloway renamed it Clinch Valley after his home county in Virginia. The first post office opened in Clinch Valley on April 14, 1840; it closed on May 20th due to low mail volume. In 1851, silver was discovered at Leadville Mines east of Clinch Valley and led to an increase in traffic along Clearwater Creek; consequently, businesses began storing their goods there instead of moving them downriver to Dublin or Cincinnati for storage space. This increased demand also caused prices for goods produced around Clinch Valley to go up as well; Consequently, many people left the area during this time period for better opportunities elsewhere within Ohio or Kentucky (the so-called "silver rush"). 1 796 people lived here according to 2000 census data In 1860 Agricultural Agent Henery Pryor reported 254 acres (115 hectares) were planted with corn and peas yielding 5 bushels per acre yield which made this place one of largest corn producer east ot Ohio!

Circleville, Ohio is a town in Noble County, Ohio, United States. The population was 524 at the 2010 census. Circleville is located on the southern edge of the Akron metropolitan area and is close to the states of Michigan and Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1800 by John Caldwell and his family. The first post office in Circleville was established in 1801, and it remained active until 1835. In that year, it was moved to nearby Painesville. The town's first store opened in 1803. By 1830,circleville had a population of 2200 residents. At that time, it included what are now part of Akron and Cleveland counties. In 1837-38, the local government erected two miles (3 km) of pressed brick road from Circleville east to Painesville as a public works project to link its two towns together geographically and economically. This road became known as "The Chain". In 1840-41, another branch of "The Chain" ran southwest from Circleville northeast to Middletown; this route became known as "The Turnpike". The original routing has been unchanged since then. In 1861-62, when Ohio passed an act authorizing statehood for Indiana Territory,[1]Circleville voted not to join that state within its borders because it felt that Indiana would do better than Kentucky where it lived culturally[2]. However, after Kentucky seceded from the Union on January 15th 1862,[3],the town came under federal control because Indiana did not recognize Kansas' entry into the union on December 14th 1861[4]. As part of Indian Territory - which included much present day Michigan -Circleville formed a company with other Native American villages around central OH during 1863 called The People's Republic Of Toledo: A Scheme To Build A Railroad Across Our Land Which Was To Connect With Central Illinois And All Eastern Canada.[5] The people who organized this enterprise were: James Hargrave (President), Solomon Lodge (Vice President), Andrew Barton (Secretary), Solomon Eaton ( Treasuer ), David Healy( Collector ), George Priestley( Engineer )and others too numerous to mention here! They laid down track between their villages parallel to but slightly westwardof Trumbull county line; upon reaching our present site they completed construction & started up engines! What resulted next cannot be described without giving away too much! Only credit can be given where credit is due...we had great fun doing it!
