Chillicothe, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and it is part of the Akron–Canton–Muncie, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 24,890 at the 2010 census. Firearms were an important factor in its history and today, firearms are still common staples in the community. In 1868, Chillicothe's first gunsmith designed and built a simple muzzleloader rifle, named "The Rifleman". It was used by local farmers to hunt game near their homes. In 1895, John Colt moved his firearms manufacturing business from Hartford Connecticut to Chillicothe and opened a new plant called "John Colt Arms Company". The company manufactured revolvers (including the Model 1911) pistols as well as shotguns (.22 LR) for both hunting and self-defense purposes. Colt also produced rifles including the Model 1903 Springfield rifle which became one of America's most popular handguns until it was replaced by the Glock pistol in 1974. In 1899, Charles Goodyear began producing tires for automobiles on his farm south of Chillicothe. Goodyear later moved his operations to Toledo Michigan where he developed radial tires that revolutionized automotive travel

Chillicothe, Ohio is a small town located in the Northwest Territory of the United States. The population was 5,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chillicothe-Muncie, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was laid out in 1836 by Nicholas Percival and his brother John as a stop on the stagecoach route from St. Louis to Cincinnati. In 1840, it became an incorporated village under the name of Chillicothe. In 1854, it was renamed for General James Haldimand, 2nd Marquess of Carrickfergus after he defeated British forces at Pultney Bridge during the Unconditional Surrender of Lord Cornwallis. The community experienced significant growth following World War II when nearby Lake Erie was developed for shipping and manufacturing operations related to military needs in both Germany and Japan. In 1968, Chillicothe merged with neighboring Muncie to form one municipality with a total population of over 15,000 people today. Today, Chillicothe remains an agricultural center that produces soybeans and corn; its economy is also influenced by tourism which contributes about $5 million annually to its GDP

Chillicothe is a small town in Jackson County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1810 by John Chillicothe and his wife Mary Ann White. In 1812, they built a log cabin on the current site of Chillicothe High School. The first school in Chillicothe was called "John's Academy" and served grades K-12. In 1815, the town became known as "Chillicothe." In 1830, the Chillicothe post office was established; it served until it closed in 1865. On November 3, 1840, Stonington Township (also in Jackson County) was organized and named for Rev. William Sionston who had been installed as pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church there some time earlier. Reverend Sionston had also donated land for a Methodist church which would be built on what is now State Route 524 west of Chillicotheshe village center; this church became known as "Stonington Methodist." In 1861, when much of Jackson County was split off to form Holmes County,[1] chillicotese voted not to secede from Ohio but to remain within Holmes County as one municipality.[2] During the American Civil War (1861-1865), many residents fought for Confederate causes including working at prisoner-of-war camps in Kentucky and Tennessee.;[3] however most residents refused to join any particular Union regiment or unit because they believed that they were doing their country a favor by helping fight against Confederate forces instead of being drafted into service.[4][5][6] After the war ended, many residents returned home and resumed their everyday lives although some did move away again during Reconstruction period (1867-1913). On October 15th 1886 local farmer C P Dodds moved two cows into an abandoned mill complex located east of present day Village Center where he began to cultivate corn ground that he had leased from Mr Loring; this early seed culture helped lead to future success with corn production throughout central Ohio In 1903 English Immersion School opened doors with 9 students; today ESOL classes are offered here along with other cultural activities such as art exhibitions/fairs/festivals etc
