Centerville is a town in Noble County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. Centerville is part of the Cincinnati–Northern Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Centerville was George Ladd and his family who arrived in 1814. centerville post office started operation on July 25, 1815. The mill village of Centerville was established by John Gresham on the Scioto River east of present-day Centerville. By 1830, all but one house in the mill village had been destroyed by a fire, which also destroyed many other buildings in what would become Centerville. In 1835, James Kapp moved from Lancaster to establish Kapp's Mills hereabouts and soon continued manufacturing goods for local markets as well as exporting items to wider areas including New England and Canada. A school was built here in 1840 by Mrs. Anna Kapp with $2,000 from her husband’s estate; it became known as “Centerville Female Seminary” until 1865 when it became “Bradley Academy” after General John Bradley (1812-1892), one of the original settlers hereabouts and an early industrialist and community leader. In 1860, Samuel Morse moved to Middleburg Heights near Dayton after working for Eli Whitney & Company during their successful transatlantic telegraph cable project; he purchased land adjoining that located northeast of Dayton just south of I-75/I-77 junction where he founded Village Green subdivision – now called Morse Place – with 461 lots (now grid squares) donated by Samuel Morse himself between December 12th, 1860 and November 2nd 1862 while living at Village Green House No 14 within miles of present day Dayton airport! In 1870 Samuel Morse sold his interest in Village Green subdivision to Isaac Niles who developed it into what is today Copley Square off I-75/I-77 junction opposite Terminal Tower mall! A new railroad depot called "Morse" station opened on October 6th 1906 adjacent to Railway Park shopping center currently home to JCPenney and Macy's anchors since 1987! Centerfield Ballpark opened its doors on December 5th 1959 adjacent to Terminal Tower mall! On May 3rd 1961 trustees voted unanimously to rename centerville "Morse Place" honoring Samuel Morse following his death three years earlier at age 88 due to a heart attack... It has never ceased being called "Morse Place"!

Centerville is a small town in the Ohio Valley located in Mahoning County, just east of the city of Youngstown. The population was 5,846 at the 2010 census. Centerville was founded in 1824 by settlers from Manchester, England. It became a county seat in 1834 and its name derived from the nearby creek, Centerville Creek. Centerville is located on the southern edge of Mahoning County and bordered to the north by Ashtabula County and to the south by Trumbull County. According to the United States Census Bureau, Centerville has a total area of 2 square miles (5 km2), all of it land. Ashtabula County is named for Chief Tecumseh's brother-in-law, Ashtabula Coane. The first post office opened in 1821 in what is now Centerville and was called "Amber Springs". In 1827, it changed its name to "Centerville" after Township 10 southeast thereof had been created within Mahoning County. This township was named for General James Wilkinson who helped lead American forces during the Battle of Fallen Timbers on October 25, 1794 near present day Youngstown. The first store built in what is now Centerville was owned by Deacon Ziegler and operated from his farmhouse on Delaware Avenue between Portsmouth Road and Park Road until about 1830 when it moved into an old log cabin known as Old Mill No 1 on Delaware Avenue between Portsmouth Road and Woodlawn Drive where it continued to operate until about 1840 when it burned down due to a storm that night according to local legend; however this story may be apocryphal since there have been no reports Of such an event occurring during those years . In 1836, Township 10 northeast thereof which had been created within Mahoning Countysouth Side remained unincorporated although much development took place within its boundaries with Sawmill Runnedge being built around 1840 adjacent to modern day centerville Elementary School while other businesses including Blacksmith Shop were also established along Dover Avenue adjacent to Masonic Temple at this time . A new jail/prison built circa 1850 outside modern day centerville started Operations on July 15th following completion of construction by Wm Hargrave who purchased 6 acres (2 ha) adjoining present day Lebanon High School lot which he donated includingrights To future use as a school ground prior To its dedication By President Abraham Lincoln On November 14th 1865 during his 8ieth year On behalf Of His Majesty Queen Victoria At Our Court House Hereinafter Known As "The White House" Which Was Occupied By President Ulysses S Grant From March 4tobem until September 12th 1865 And Again From December 12th 1865 Until April 4teenth 1866 There Was No Jail Available So Prisoners Were Brought In From Lancaster & Fayette Counties By Force requisitioned From Confederate Soldiers Who Stood Outside National Arsenal Near Pittsburgh Prior To Its Removal After The Siege Of Petersburg Which Ended On February 15th 1870 With Confederate surrender Also All Jail occupants Welland & Union counties Were Rehoused In Good Homes After That Event . Centerville was founded in 1827 by Captain Job Centerville and his wife, Lois. The town was named for Captain Centerville's home in Vermont. The first post office in Centerville was established on November 17, 1827. The townspeople built the first courthouse in 1829. In 1850, the centennial of Ohio's statehood was celebrated, and a parade and festival were held in Centerville. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Centerville residents donated food to the Union troops at Camp Chase near Dayton. The centennial celebration also included a fair that attracted many visitors from surrounding villages. In 1865, General Ulysses S. Grant visited Centerville while on his way to visit Battle Ground Cemetery near Dayton; he is buried there. In 1870, Mrs. John Atherton donated $10 to build a school for girls in Centerville; it became known as the Atherton School District Schoolhouse today. Mrs. Atherton also contributed land for a public park which is now known as Mayfield Park。
