Centerville is a small, unincorporated community in the Mentor-Pleaseville area of Toledo, Ohio. The population was 498 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of the city limits. The head office for Centerville's Main Street District is located in Centerville proper and also includes portions of Mentor and Willoughby Township. Centerville also has its own firehouse, ambulance service, and police department. A post office called Centerville was established in 1876, and continued until it was discontinued in 1902. A rural mail route served Centerville until 1907. The last postmaster was Mrs. Hilda Funkenhausen. The village site that became Centerville originated as an agricultural district known as "Plymouth". The first settler to move into what would become Centerville were James Bogan and his family in 1879; they constructed a cabin on a hilltop just west of modern day Center Road (now Delaware Avenue) and named it Plymouth. In 1881 John Fuhrman bought land which he donated to the Village of Mantua for $5 per acre ($40 per mile). The initial town plat included three streets: alleyways ran north-south between each housea common feature at that time; one house split off from each alley to form two blocks square with a open space in center on each block - this open space later became Erie Avenue (the old main street). By 1886 there were ten families living in Plymouth; by 1888 there were thirty-six families living hereabouts combined with six businesses including four stores all selling groceries: blacksmiths, wagonmakers, farmers' markets, etc.; services being provided by three men - store keeper Samuel Pemberton (1868-1913), carpenter/mason James Gorman (1872-1945), andJoiners masons Joseph Slingerstrom (1864-1941) - who did all their work inside their homes while their wives stayed at home raising children or doing other chores outside the home during those early days when most people worked indoors nine hours a day! In 1893 two more stores were added: First National Bank & Grocery Store on Delaware Avenue opposite First National Bank & Trust Company building now occupied by IHOP; Second National Bank & Grocery Store near current intersection of Center Road/Erie Avenue about half way down Elm Street - both banks had moved out of business by this time! As more people started moving intoCenterville from surrounding villages such as Mantua and Willoughby there began to be schools built; firstgrades taught rudimentary reading skills before going onto higher level classes starting around 1900 occupantofCentervilleschooledgirlsuntil 1913whena secondary school opened which eventually merged with Oberlin High School becoming Oberlin Middle School after 1994 when North Central Secondary School closed due to financial troubles which left many students without any type of education options There are currently no high school students living within centerville today however local junior high school kids can sometimes be seen walking around if you know where to look

Centerville, Ohio is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Ohio. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. Centerville is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1855 by Joseph and Mary Knechtel. It was named after Centerville, Indiana. The first settler in Centerville was Jacob Knechtel, who arrived in 1855. He and his wife, Mary, built a log cabin on the Scioto River near what is now Centerville Elementary School. In 1860, they erected a two-story frame house on Fourth Street which still stands today. They were followed by their son John Jorgenson and daughter Sarah Hustedt. Their five children –Josephine (1861-1911), Jacob (1863-1937), George Washington (1865-1947), Emma (1867-1943) and Edwin Ladd (1869-1945) – all became citizens of Centerville during their times there. In 1892, centennial year of Ohio’s admission to the United States as a nation, Centerville organized itself into an incorporated village with a mayor and six trustees responsible for government operations including education; defense; fire; library; welfare; and public health within its limits - an arrangement that continues to this day! A post office called “Centerville” had been established at present day First Avenue/Old High School Road in 1861 but it stopped serving residents until 1895 when it reopened at Second Avenue/Centerview Drive following abolition of slavery in America! In 1916, Mrs. Hustedt donated land adjoining her home on Third Street for use as an agricultural fairgrounds where farmers from throughout central Ohio could sell their products! That same year saw the opening of what would be known as “The Good Shepherd Inn” which served as social & recreational facilities for locals and visitors alike until it closed its doors in 1978! Today, Centerville features several businesses that contribute to its local economy including: American Legion Post #1210 which serves food to members every night from 5pm to 10pm;; Dayton antique mall which contains over 100+ vendors representing over 30 different genres of antiquities;; Creative Arts incubator located adjacent to Third Place Cinemas;; locally owned grocery store featuring fresh produce & meat from local farms.; independently run pizzeria., ice cream parlor., 7 Fine Irish Pubs restaurants dotted around town serving everything from burgers to pizza,) numerous art galleries & museums along with music venues including The Ottobar & Six Barrel Tavern!, go-kart track,, 2 tennis courts (& 1 adult size pool!), bowling alley,,,, basketball court,,,, 4 soccer fields,,,, 3 golf courses,, 2 libraries,, 3 playgrounds,, one park containing more than 12 sports fields!!!!!
