Since 2007, John Pappas has been responsible for running the business with his father-in-law, Bob Pappas Sr., acting as general manager until their retirements at age 70 years old in 2019. Centerville is located on the west side of the Scioto River and it is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first settler in Centerville was George Higginson, who arrived in 1811. He erected a log cabin on the banks of the Scioto River. Sometime after that, he married Susannah Rollins and they started to farm around what is now Centerville. In 1814, Daniel Boone came through Licking County on his way from Kentucky to found Cincinnati. He stopped at Centerville while traveling east and recommended its location for settlement because of its fertile land and good water supply. In 1821, John Stephenson built a gristmill on the Scioto River near present-day Centerville. It was one of first mills in Ohio and became an important source of revenue for the community. The mill continued operation until it burned down in 1906. Today, only some foundations remain from that structure. In 1824, Ebenezer Farnsworth founded a sawmill at what is now Milltowne Hall plantation near Centerville alongthe Scioto River. That mill continued operation until it burned down in 1893; however, parts have been reconstructed and are still used today by Century Mills Inc., which operates it as a visitor attraction within walking distance ofCenterville Village shopping center across Milltowne Hall Drive from downtown Licking County seat Columbus OH

The area that is now Centerville was part of the Northwest Territory which was established in 1787. It consisted of areas east of the Allegheny Mountains and north of the Ohio River. The territory was divided into three divisions, Upper Cumberland, Lower Cumberland, and Western Cumberland. The Western Cumberland division merged with Kentucky to form Tennessee in 1802.
