Cotton production increased during World War II due to requirements from the military; mills located near centerville produced munitions such as rockets and artillery shells while other businesses manufactured items such as automotive parts and appliances. Centerville is a city in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Stark County. Centerville was founded in 1810 and incorporated as a town in 1836. The current mayor and city council are all elected at-large with no term limits. Centerville is located on the southern edge of the unincorporated community of Goodspeed and lies east of Lima on State Route 190. It is bordered by the towns of North Canton to the south, Uniontown to the east, and Athens to the north. The first settler in Centerville was John Hultz who arrived in 1810 from Lancaster, Pennsylvania via Delaware River Valley. He built a cabin near what is now Centerville Middle School along State Route 190 upon his arrival which served as both his home and office until 1840 when he moved his business to what is now Wright Street where he operated a blacksmith shop until his death in 1848. In 1836, Centerville became one of two townships within Stark County when it was organized under its present form. In 1860, it annexed part of Lima which then had a population over 20 thousand according to government records; however this annexation did not take place because there were no votes cast for township trustees that year due to legal conflicts between Lima and Centerville over boundary changes made by an act passed by Congress during that same year known as "The Potter's Bill." A post office called Centerville was established at what is now corner Dayton Avenue and Broadway Road on November 3, 1830, serving residents of both townships together until December 12th (the date mail started being delivered). The name change came about because postal officials found that most residents living within 1 mile (2 km) of either town center spoke without exception with just one exception: those living inside Rhode Island whose letters were priority mail subject to longer delivery times than otherMail subjects such as bills or newspapers therefore they were considered "centers" or "heartlands". On July 14th 1870 – Independence Day –Centerville merged with Uniontown becoming their second townhallS; however Uniontown voted against incorporation so this merger did not take effect until February 4th 1871 when it re-organized into its present form including Centerville proper among other adjustments following a referendum held January 11th 1870 in which all inhabitants within 750 feet (230 m)of their new polling place had been allowed voting rights regardless of residency status thereby expanding voting opportunities even further for everyone residing within walking distance thereof despite some citizens refusing or having trouble traveling long distances due to health concerns connected with poor air quality caused by coal mining operations operating close proximate thereto throughout much of those years leading up thereto – making it possible for more people overall residentially speaking immediately surrounding today’s centervillecantonline area since then lol!
