Celina, Ohio is a small town located in the central part of the United States. The population was 6,463 at the 2000 census. Celina is one of four towns in Butler County and it is also one of fifteen villages in that county. The first settler in Celina was Jacob Harker who arrived in 1796. There were two other families, the Smiths and Greenes, who lived until 1827 when they left for new land near Sandusky. The first post office was established here on October 5, 1830. In 1835, three men named Purdy built a sawmill on what is now Main Street. They became the first company to operate a mill in Celina Township. In 1836, John McCoy settled Hereford Township north of Celina on land he had bought from Nicholas Snyder and his brother-in-law Daniel Trimble. He erected a log cabin which still stands today on what is now First Avenue NE between Center and Sassafras Streets. This was one of many early homesteading sites around this area where settlers built their homes during the period before roads were developed and wagon trails took off across America linking up with each other as well as Europe via travelogue routes such as those traveled by Lewis & Clark Expedition! For another twenty years or so there was little change taking place within boundaries defined by Harker’s original grant including only occasional addition or deletion of citizenry; however some important events occurred including: 1864 – James Harker migrated to Ohio from Canada with his family settling near present day Celina 1866 – A schoolhouse (named after Mrs JH Harker) was erected east ofpresent day Church Road just south of main street; this building served as both public and private school throughout much of its history 1868 – One hundred acres (40 hectares) east side of present day Elm Road west side extending to Cedar Creek formed part of gift from James Cushing for home parishioners at St Joseph’s Catholic Church situated about 4 miles (6 km) northeast corner intersection then Big Woods road short cut southeast thence along said creek to lot line opposite present day Second Street NW crossing over said creek on high bank above stream bed then following said road 3 quarters mile due northwest corner intersection with Third Street NW

After the war, however, Celina began to experience rapid growth as manufacturing moved into the area from nearby Toledo and Akron. In 1951, Celina became home to its own high school; since then it has been one of several towns in Lucas County that have supported education through local schools system.
