Firearm clothing has a long and colorful history in Celina, Ohio. In 1847, the first lawabiding citizens of Celina formed the Celina Rifle Club to promote responsible gun ownership. The club’s first meeting was held on October 5th at the home of Wm. P.Figgins. At that time, rifles were not considered lawful firearms and only shotguns were allowed to be possessed. The club soon became known as “America’s First Gun Club” and its members enjoyed a wide variety of firearms for target shooting, hunting, or protection from angry mobs. The rifle club staged many successful exhibitions throughout the years and learned how to use all types of firearms properly. In 1868, the Celina Rifle Club moved to its present location at 122 E Main Street where it continues to meet monthly today. The club donated several hundred rifles to various organizations during its long history including Deerhorn Baptist Church in 1903-1907 and Stonington United Methodist Church in 1916-1920. Today, the Celina Rifle Club remains an important part of local community life and offers opportunities for members to learn about gun safety practices as well as shoot competitively with other clubs across central Ohio

Celina, Ohio is a small town in the Miami Valley region of central Ohio. The population was 11,844 at the 2010 census. Celina is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Celina were the French in 1795 and Jesuit missionaries in 1800. The area that now includes Celina was part of what was then called Ottawa County. In 1814, Dublin Township was organized from parts of Ottawa and Hardin counties. That same year, Williamstown Township was formed from a portion of Celina. In 1818, Cleveland Township was organized from parts of Hardin and Ottawa counties and included land that now includes much of Celina. In 1821, Athens Township (later Gahanna)wasorganizedfrompartsofOttawaandHardincountiesand IncludedlandthatnowincludesmuchofCelina;thistownwas later renamed Athens after General James A. Halleck who served as the first United States Secretary of War under President Abraham Lincoln in 1865-1868. In 1827, Lawrence Township (later Bedford)wasorganizedfrompartsofOttawaandHardingcountiesand IncludedlandthatnowincludesmuchofCelina;thistown was later renamed Lawrence after General John Pritchard who served as Commandant General for Indian Affairs during the American Civil War 1861-1865). In 1830, Union Township (later Fort Wayne)wasorganizedfrompartsofOttawaandHardingcountiesand IncludedlandthatnowincludesmuchofCelina;thistown was later renamed Union after its incorporation into Indiana Territory on November 2nd, 1837). On May 1st 1870 Columbus township (later Findlay)wasorganizedfrompartsoftheMiamiValleyregionandomemberingforthecity OF Cincinnati but it merged with Fort Wayne on October 15th 1912 to form one large city with its own government called "Columbus". On January 14th 1915 Columbus township (later Findlay) merged with Lima to form "Lima". In 1800 there were only 8 people living in Celinas 4 acre plot on Broadway Street cornering Market Place - which would eventually become their home for over 200 years! Mrs Jane Green purchased this lot back in 1800 for $205 – her husband Peter had died just two years earlier while serving as captain with Company K US Army during the war against Spain! Over time they added 3 more acres until they had an operationally complete farmstead today totaling 11 acres! They raised chickens/poultry eggs/milk cows/horses etc., made cheese and soap products out their dairy cow barn & outbuildings until 1946 when all operations stopped because World War II interfered with agriculture production that greatly impacted many families here! There are still descendants living here today including Mrs Jane’s great grandson “Doc” who has run his family’s business since 1945!
