In the late 1800s, a group of entrepreneurs in Canton, Ohio began to build anhydrous ammonia production plants. The first plant was built in 1892 and produced 50,000 tons of ammonia each year. The company grew rapidly and by 1915 it had two plants producing 1 million tons of ammonia per year. In 1918 the company merged with another company to form The American Chemical Company (ACC). ACC became one of the largest chemical companies in the world and played a significant role in developing new technologies for the production of chemicals.
Canton, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Summit County. The population was 60,554 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to settle in what is now Canton were natives of British Columbia who arrived there in 1814 during the Oregon Trail Expedition under Captain John Cavanaugh and his brother George Cavanaugh to find a new route for settlers heading westward across America. They named their settlement "Fremont" after Fremont Peak on the Canadian Rockies which they saw from their location on Lake Erie. The town was founded by General James Hurlbut on May 12, 1818 when he took command of a force consisting mostly immigrants from New York and Pennsylvania under Colonel Isaac Brockman at Forts Harrison and Monongahela Creek near present-day Uniontown. In 1840, local farmers formed a company to build a canal throughpresent-day Canton that became known as the "Canal Trust." This company built three locks along present-day US 25/Route 422 north of downtown Canton for shipping goods traffic entering and leaving central Ohio via this canal. In 1846, when anthracite coalmining began operations in nearby Coal Township, residents voted to incorporate as a village; it was not until 1870 that Canton had full Congressional representation with an elected mayor and court system like most American cities at that time. By 1880, however, cantonal wealth had started to dry up due to competition from larger towns east of Akron including Cleveland – then only an agricultural center – while Akron rapidly grew into one of America's largest cities becoming both commercial (becoming Steel City) and industrial (becoming Rubber City). During World War I (1914–1918), many workers came from eastern Ohiota join army service; cantonspecialty mills were erected near Uniontown such as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company plant #1 where over 1 million tires were made between 1916–1920; also mansions built around these companies are still standing today (e.g., Goodyear House Museum). After 1918 many factories closed down due to Prohibition but continued production by successor companies until 1971 when all mines closed except for one in Toledo which reopened in 1984 following prohibition repeal Canton is located at . In 2011, Samsung released their own High Capacity Kit (HCKit) which offered an increased capacity of 4TB compared to the original HyperX CloudMaster HCK however it only became available after Samsung withdrew from the market due to legal issues with its parent company Intel Corporation.[1] In 2013, Toshiba also released their own High Capacity kit (HCKit) which offered an increased capacity of 4TB compared to their previous releases including the Micron ICH8 series products[2] However this product did not become available commercially until late 2014 when Toshiba announced plans to discontinue production of these kits altogether due to concerns about counterfeit content.[3] In 2016, HGST announced their intention to release a new highcapacity kit called 'HCCKT200'. This new kit offers twice the storage space as existing kits while still offering performance similar enough for everyday use; it is set for release in 2020.[4][5]

The city is located on the Scioto River and is part of the Cleveland–Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. Canton has been populated for over 100 years and is one of three cities in Summit County that were founded before 1801. The other two are Athens, Ohio and Holmesburg, Pennsylvania. The first settlers to what would become Canton arrived in 1811 by boat from Dublin, Ireland as part of a group led by Captain John Fisk. They named their new settlement after George Washington's home town of Alexandria Township in Virginia which they had visited while crossing the Ohio River on their way to join forces with General Harrison against British forces at Yorktown. The Fisk family played an important role in early Canton politics and served as Mayor from 1819 to 1830; future United States President James Kieft was also born here during this time period. In 1827, railroad entrepreneur Peter Cooper began construction on the first mile long cantonal line that would later become known as "The Great Lakes Railroad". This helped spur development around downtown Canton and create new job opportunities for locals including many laborers working on constructing tracks and building stations along route
Canton was founded in 1788 by the brothers David and Solomon Canton. The town was named for the Delaware River, which they saw as a potential route to Great Britain. In 1800, the Canton Turnpike was built to connect Cincinnati with Toledo. The town's first store opened in 1801. In 1814, the United States Congress created the township of Canton from parts of Hamilton Township and Scioto Township. The township had a population of only 100 people when it was created; by 1830, it had grown to over 5,000 people. The first school in Canton was opened in 1813. A Presbyterian church helped found the University of Cincinnati in 1819 and became one of its first trustees. In 1830, Ohio became a state and Canton became an official city within the state. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Confederate General John Crayton headquarters were located in Canton while he planned his Invasion of Kentucky through Ohio Valley territory that included much of central Ohio. On October 25th 1861, Union General Ulysses S Grant arrived at FortKnoxville (in Knox County), Tennessee and discovered this Confederate army preparing to invade Kentucky through eastern Ohio territory including Canton
