Cambridge, Ohio is a small town located in the northeast corner of the state of Ohio. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,813. In 1802 a group of men from Portsmouth, New Hampshire founded the village of Athens on a peninsula that forms part of today's Cambridge Township. Grant marched through Cambridge on their way to invade Canada during the War for Independence. While in town, General Grant stopped at an inn on Main Street to rest and eat before continuing his march upriver towards Canaillesburgastery where he would later assault Fort Niagara on July 14th, 1814. During his visit to Cambridge, General Grant met local farmer Isaac Hurd who gave him wine and cheese as presents for his military exploits during the war; this event is commemorated by Hurd Drive which runs through downtown Cambridge just east of US-27/SR-39 (the old routing for US-27). In 1824 two brothers named Winthrop bought some land east of present day Harvard Road and built what became known as Winthrop House; it still stands today as one of only two remaining original buildings from that time period in Cambridge Township (the other being Winthrop School). It was here that President James Kahlgren delivered his State Dinner in 1925 when he became president upon Franklin D Roosevelt's inauguration into office Two years later on November 9th another important event happened while living in Winthrop House when Congressman Edward Everett Long made history by becoming America's first sitting congressman from Massachusetts since independence He did so by winning percentage points over incumbent Samuel Morse with nearly 60% against Morse's 38%. One year later (January 1st) with Everett Long having served out his full term(s) - something no other elected official has ever done - he retired to become mayoralty campaign manager for George W Bush On January 15th 2003 he decided not to seek re-election after 20 years serving - making him one of only two U.S Ambassadors to die while serving Ambassador duty In total since 1977 there have been twenty three mayors and four city councillors who have died while serving either as Mayor or City Councillor There are currently no plans to change this trend any time soon given how long most incumbents stay in office once they are announced seeking reelection

During this time period also happened much social activity such as dances/picnics during summer weeks at local ponds or creekside sites before going into town for dinner at local restaurants; there were also large annual family reunions during Christmas week that involved all aspects of life from religious observance through egg napping until morning services – something that still happens today if you go along! This era also saw more than one election held due largely to improved transportation options given by our then-new interstate highway system!
