In 1801, EdwardManchester founded Cambridge, Ohio and named it for the University of Cambridge in England. When the Indiana Territory was formed in 1785, Cambridge became part of it. The City of Cambridge was incorporated as a village on December 4, 1907. On May 1, 1912, the Village of Cambridge merged with the Town of Euclid to form a new city. The name change came about because there were no other cities within the new city limits with similar names (Euclid being an abbreviation for "University") and because Harvard University had offered to buy all of Euclid's land if they changed their name too. The current location of Cambridge was laid out by George Rogers Clark in 1802 when he bought 640 acres (2 km²) east of what is now downtown Indianapolis from David Wilkinson and others who owned part of what would become Indianapolis. He named his purchase "Cambridge" after one of his colleges from which he had recently graduated—the University of Cambridge in England. It is said that Quincy Adams wrote to Clark complaining about having to share such an important town with so many people and asking for him not to sell him any more land; but Clark only laughed and said that he would keep everything if only Quincy could get into college so that he could learn how to write well! In 1819 Matthew Harrison settled near present-day Portsmouth just north of where today's Georgetown lies on White River Road/Highway 465W; Harrison renamed his settlement Portsmouth after himself – making Portsmouth Ohio’s first proper English settlement since Cincinnati’s Frenchtown had been established two years earlier! After becoming known as Portsmouth they began building a courthouse which still stands today on North Delaware Street just north-west Of Main Street; this building served as both their town hall and court house until replaced by the current structure in 1906! In addition they built several homes including one called “The Queen Anne” which still stands today on Delaware Avenue across from Post Office Plaza! This home was acquired by Purdue University in 1954 and currently houses PurdueExtracurricular Activities Coordinator (PAC),adminstrative staff & housing services! On February 16th 1861 Colonel Nathaniel Banks set forth from Indianapolis along what becomes known as State Road 25W towards Vincennes via Orange County Banks ordered General John Mahon's brigade under Lieutenant Colonel Fisher McDowell march ahead through Noble County towards Lafayette Mahon found abandoned stores along SR 25W near present day Warsaw Mahon ordered McDowell's brigade turn around・and return back home while he went forward without troops Mahon learned later that these stores belonged to Simon Cameron who had supplies hidden inside them

The growth of Cleveland during the late 19th century caused much competition between both cities for workers; however, Cambridge quickly emerged as one of Cleveland's leading economic engines due to its strong ties with academia and industry. During this time period there were many milestones within Cambridge such as: -John Lennon's birth in 1922 -Clapham Common Cricket Club being formed in 1903 -The Columbian Exposition being held in Chicago in 1893 -First public transportation system established within town limits with horse drawn carriages running between downtowns
