In 1884, a man named John Bucyrus founded the Bucyrus Gun Company in Bucyrus, Ohio. The company produced firearms for both civilian and military use. In 1924, the company was acquired by the Smith & Wesson Corporation. From then until its sale to Colt in 1978, the Bucyrus Gun Company was part of Smith & Wesson’s firearms division. At Colt, the company became part of the American arms Manufacturing Company (AAMC). AAMC merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1988 to form America’s Performace Firearms Corporation (APFC). On July 1, 1999, APFC was sold to Beretta USA Incorporated.

Bucyrus, Ohio is a small town in northeast Ohio. The population was 7,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Muncie metro area. The first Europeans to encounter the land that would become Bucyrus were traders and missionaries who traveled through present-day southeastern Ohio in 1795 and 1800. Jesuit priests had been exploring the area since the 16th century when they encountered Native Americans living near what is now Youngstown, Pennsylvania. The first European settlement in what would become Bucyrus was established by French Canadian traders on July 6, 1814 as a trading post on the Scioto River between Canandaigua and Athens, New York. In 1817, John Dickey built a mill on the Scioto River for flour production; this mill became known as Dickey's Mills until it closed in 1907. In 1822, George Stephenson built an iron furnace at Bucyrus for manufacturing tools and other items needed to build his new railroad from Cleveland toAkron. This engine house still stands within Bucyrus limits today. When railroads began becoming important during the 19th century, transportation became an essential aspect of many businesses throughout northeastern Ohio including those around Bucyrus which contributed to its growth over time. For example, Niles Drugs & Hardware relocated from Dayton to downtown Bucyrus in 1915 due largely to its location on Railroad Avenue just across from Union Station (now Wabash Avenue). Similarly, Brick Masons International moved out of Toledo into a brick factory located just east of town on State Road 216 after being founded there in 1925 by architect Frank Lloyd Wright Jr.. In 1933, construction began on what would be called "the biggest shopping mall ever built" – The DuPont Center – which served as both a retail center and home for DuPont employees during its early years before being acquired by Macy's Department Stores in 1984 when that company merged with JCPenney Incorporated. At about this time too much development occurred within town limits so much of West Market Street near TheDuPontCenter was platted out as commercial property becoming known as "The Strip." One notable feature of this portion of town today is that it still retains some original architecture styles dating back to when only one-fourth of total Retail Square Footage (RSF) was devoted to stores! It wasn't until 1990 when local resident Drayton McLendon developed plans for what became known as "The Mall at Hudson", bringing together several properties adjacent to West Market Street with access via Interstate 90 abutting northward providing enough contiguous land for such an endeavor without having bordering streets or blocks cut off Consequently making it one of Northeast Ohio's most successful shopping malls period! Today it remains one of central Buckeye Township's most popular tourist attractions drawing millions each year both inside and outside its doors!

In 1814, a group of Ohio pioneers set out from Cleveland, searching for a new home. They were led by Captain John C. Bucyrus and his wife Esther. The Bucyrus family moved to what is now Bucyrus, Ohio in 1815 and began farming the land that they had purchased two years earlier. In 1816, they erected the first known house in what is now Bucyrus. TheBucyruses continued to live in their farmstead until 1830 when they sold it and moved to Cincinnati where they lived until their death in 1840. Their son George S. Bucyrus became the first mayor of Cincinnati after he was elected as a Democrat in 1861. His father had emigrated from Poland in 1795 and his mother was born there in 1800. After his father's death, GeorgeS.-owned-and-operated-a- textile mill for many years before moving it to Dayton, Ohio about 1930 where he died in 1978.

The first permanent settler in Bucyrus was George Weiser, who arrived in 1821. The town was founded on the Scioto River by Weiser and his family. It became a part of the United States in 1827. The town's population grew rapidly from its founding until it reached its peak in 1870, when it had an estimated population of over 100 people. However, by 1900 the population had decreased to about 10 people.
