In 1907 it merged with neighboring Middletown to form the consolidated city of Cincinnati-Middletown-Wilmington which has since grown into one of America's largest metropolitan areas. Brunswick is a city in and the county seat of Brunswick County, Ohio, United States. The population was 15,581 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The original village of Brunswick was founded in 1792 by three brothers - John, Peter and Nicholas Gibbs - along with their father-in-law, David Lamb. In 1803, the village was renamed Brunswick after King George III of Great Britain. In 1825, James Kapp built a gristmill on the Scioto River near present-day downtown Brunswick. Kapp became one of the largest millers in Ohio and developed a large trade with neighboring states. In 1828 he sold his mill to John Cline who operated it until 1840 when it passed to his son Samuel Cline Jr., Sr. The mill burned down in 1865 but was rebuilt and continued in use until 1870 when it closed due to financial troubles. A new gristmill was built on the Scioto River by Jotham Henshaw around 1800 which became known as "The Old Mill". It continued to be used until 1830 when it too caught fire and burned down. It later been rebuilt again under new ownership which operated it until 1915 when it too failed for financial reasons; this mill remain abandoned today adjacent to nearby State College University campus whereupon its remains were bulldozed over for commercial development purposes! Later that same year (1815), other pioneers arrived from Kentucky into what is now southeastern Ohio: George Stephenson came from Kentucky via Cincinnati while others such as Andrew McKnight settled along Miami Creek east of Lancaster (now Delaware) just north of Akron Falls Road between 1788–1793). These newcomers helped shift much of central Ohio's early growth westward towards Dayton instead of eastward towards Lexington or Cleveland (the latter two landowning families had long competed against each other for control over this region). By 1830 there were more people living west side than east side of Scioto River – which may have been due partially to cultural factors like evangelicalism becoming popularized here during this time period – so Kapp's gristmill must have been an important center for socio-economic activity across this borderland region! Kapp also founded what is now State College University in 1850; however, university operations ceased following its establishment because Of West Virginia territory ceded by Congress in 1863 although parts including main building still stand today within SW corner lot facing Main Street on campus! Like many smaller villages throughout centralOhio during these years various stores, churches and residences grew up around gristmill & post office etc...thus creating town center type architecture typical among those days
