Brooklyn began to decline during the nineteenth century due to various factors including increased competition from other towns in Fulton County, social unrest caused by increasing numbers of Irish immigrants, and economic decline brought about by industrialization and technological advances at nearby Cleveland's rival companies such as Rubberville (later renamed Playfair) Tire & Manufacturing Company and Erskine-Peebles Glass Works (now known as Celco). However, local businesses did continue to thrive until around 1910 whenbrooklyn experienced its most significant population loss since its founding due to World War I efforts to displacing ethnic German residents with American troops who were needed on battlefields overseas; however this demographic trend reversed following victory over Germany at war's end Kapp's Brookhaven Cement Plant closed in 1917 due largely to World War I-related pricing policies set by U.S.-owned corporations which raised prices for basic goods such as cement while limiting profits for producers thereof; but shortly thereafter Brooklyn resumed production at its original site taking advantage of available technology upgrades resulting from wartime mobilization In 1925-, Brooklyn Chamber Of Commerce merged with local Odd Fellows Lodge No 3
