In 1786, following Purchase land purchases from Iroquois chief Gerritsen van Rensselaer through his brother Hendrick van Rensselaer Jr., settlers began moving into what is now Borough Park from all around New York City – most notably those from East Harlem – with some settling down permanently. On July 1, 1786, Samuel women’s group led by Molly Pitcher acquired 2 ½ acres (1 km²) of land between Newtown Creek and Spring Valley Creek as part of their purchase for $2 per acre (0·09 per km²). This area became known as Pitcher's Field after Molly Pitcher’s daughter gave her share back to her mother upon her death in 1802. In 1800–1801 Joshua Barnes marked off lot 1/3 northwest side of present-day Borough Park Circle with two lines extending northeastwardly from center point; this became known as Barnes Lots because James Barnes purchased it early in its history In 1803 John Stratton donated 60 acres (24 ha) towards creating a town site on Williamsbridge Neck overlooking Manhattan proper; this lot became known as Strattonowne due to its donation being accepted by William Tryon III as Developer for New York City without having first obtained an act or charter from Parliament authorising it Middlesex Hospital opened its doors on December 26th 1870 just across Nassau Street cornering Kings Highway becoming one of America’s earliest healthcare providers while also serving patients up until 1965 when all hospital services were relocated within One Hundred Fifty Fifth Street Health Center complex located next door which today remains Middlesex Hospital’s primary patient care provider providing maternity care delivery services Psychiatric Services Women’s Shelter until forced closure during renovations done inside One hundred fifty fifth street health center complex circa 1965
