Brook Park is a village in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH-KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was founded in 1836 by General George Armstrong Custer and his army as Fort Dearborn. Brook Park became a town in 1857 and a city in 1907. The city was abandoned by the late 20th century but has since been reborn as a small town with a population of about 1,800 people. Brook Park is located on the Scioto River between Dayton and Middletown. It is bordered to the east by West Bloomfield Township and to the west by Union City Township. According to the 2000 census, its total area is . Of this land, (75%) lies within Mahoning County; (25%) is within Union City Township; and (5%) falls within Scioto Valley Municipal Airport boundaries. The Village of Brook Park was formed from portions of both Green Township and West Bloomfield Township on April 6, 1836 when General George Armstrong Custer's army arrived at Fort Dearborn after defeating Native Americans at Battle of Little Big Horn on December 25th that year. The first post office opened in Brook Park on October 14, 1840 under name of Albion Heights(). On July 3rd 1870 Poultney Henshaw organized what became known as "the Zouaves" () militia unit which served for three years until it disbanded due to lack of supplies or soldiers being needed elsewhere during the American Civil War (). In 1872 while still part of Green Township they annexed parts of West Bloomfield Township including present day Brookpark Village (). At this time many homes were built near today's downtown business district as there were not enough buildings available north/west of Spring Street (). It wasn't until 1915 when they changed their name to "Brook Park" after then Mayor James Dolan who championed that change along with other village improvements such as expanding water systems and adding a football field onto Main Street (). That same year also saw their first school opening up east side lot number 2 which would later become home to East High School () now known as Wright State University-. From 1916-1920 there were seven different mayors with James Ryan serving six terms consecutively starting in 1916 before he retiring due to health reasons (); however all records show him having been elected mayor twice concurrently so it can only be assumed he did not serve two consecutive terms because no record exists to support that claim! In 1925 Mayor John J Rooney took office after Lenny Siegel resigned due to poor health; however he too resigned due To World War II military service!. Another mayor named John Fenton who held office from 1951-1954 followed similar policies like Rooney but increased spending instead then decreased it like his predecessor did! Finally during 1957-1959 Clyde Aiken served for one term before leaving for unknown reasons.; however all records indicate that he had also been elected multiple times!! All these mayors reflect how democracy works & how villages have strong mayors who make decisions based off what they feel are best for their community! Currently there are only two functioning schools: East High School & Wright State University - Thanks largely to Mayor Tom Graybill’s dedication over many years making sure our students have access both opportunities!

Brook Park is a community in the northwest quadrant of the city of Cleveland, Ohio. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Brook Park includes parts of the neighborhoods of Northfield and Westlake Village. The community was formed in 1892 when settlers from Delaware Township (now Mentor) moved to what is now Brookpark from Greenbelt Township in what is now Conneaut County. The name "Brook Park" was chosen because it had been recommended by a group of local men as a place where people would be able to enjoy fresh water sports without having to go too far away from their homes. In 1902, Brook Park became part of Cleveland through an act of Congress and it incorporated as a village on March 15, 1903. On November 14, 1919, it reorganized as a town due to its growing population and annexed the neighboring communities of Whitehall Heights and Lyndhurst. On July 1, 1927 it became part of the new City of Cleveland through an act passed by Congress under President Coolidge. Brook Park experienced some growth during World War II as many residents enlisted in the military or worked for government agencies such as United States Army Air Forces Base AFCON (later Wright-Patterson AFB). In 1945, Brookpark's first post office opened with mail sent from Euclid Heights into central Ohio along I-675 which later became I-75; this service continued until 1964 when all post offices were discontinued across metropolitan Cleveland due to dwindling postal resources. The Community Building that stands today on Euclid Avenue near Cuyahoga Falls Boulevard served as both Post Office and Municipal Building until 1984 when it burned down; however, plans are underway for development that will include restoration and preservation of this building which will serve as a museum about Brookpark history

The first European settlement in what is now Brook Park was made by the French in 1701. The area was part of the Northwest Territory, which was organized from parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan in 1787. In 1802, the United States acquired this territory from France. The area became part of the newly created Cleveland County in 1812. In 1814, Cleveland County was divided into two parts: the eastern half went to Summit County and the western half went to Lorain County. In 1816, Summit County was dissolved and its lands became part of Lorain County. In 1860, Cleveland County was again divided into two parts: the eastern half went to Portage (now Muskegon Heights) Township and the western half went to Ashtabula Township. Ashtabula Township was renamed as Brook Park Township in 1912. Brook Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Eatonville Township on Grand River near I-71 south of downtown Cleveland
