The Brook Park Rifle Club was founded in 1892. It became a national organization in 1902. The club participated in the first annual National Rifle Association (NRA) meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 14th of that year. The club’s first president was Hiram Stevens Maxim. In 1912 the club moved to its present location at 611 N First St., Brook Park, Ohio.
Brook Park, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, and the county seat of Stark County. The population was 21,636 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. Brook Park is named after John Brook, who donated land to make it a town in 1836. The first settlers were French Canadians who arrived in 1795 and numbered about 50 people. They built log cabins on what is now US-6 south of present-day Brook Park Boulevard. The following year, they erected a large frame courthouse which still stands today on what was then Dutch Road (now US-6). In 1816, John Brock founded a small community called Albion on opposite sides of the river near modern day Miami Avenue and High Street in what is now Stark County; Albion had about 20 residents when it was organized as a town in 1836. In 1840, John Dyer founded Southeastern Ohio Company with 3 partners to purchase 640 acres (2 km²) around present day Brooke Park Boulevard for $5 per acre ($/ha). The company built several mills there including one that became known as "the father of American industry". By 1850, Southeastern Ohio had 30 miles (48 km) of railroad mainline within its boundaries and by 1870 had become one of America's leading cotton producers with plantations located all along the route from Memphis to St Louis.. At its peak production in 1861–1868, SoutheasternOhio exported over 1 million dollars' worth of goods annually.. By 1900 however production decreased to only 350 thousand dollars' worth annually due to competition from other areas.. In 1901, Southeastern Ohio merged with two other companies to form United States Steel Corporation which would later become IBM . This merger created an immediate business opportunity for new entrepreneurs such as George Cleveland who started Cleveland Electric Railway Company which built electric streetcars across downtown Cleveland between Carnegie Library and Euclid Square .. After 25 years operating this line he sold it to trolley service operator Columbus Elevated Railway Company Incorporated –later FirstEnergy –in 1987 .. In 1990 FirstEnergy acquired controlling interest in OSI Corporation –later Enron -and shut down operations at Brownsville Terminal site west of Akron making way for Oneida Valley Mall … After almost 10 years experience operating Brownsville Terminal Site we retired it effective December 31 2002……………. Brook Park is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. Brook Park was founded in 1836 by settlers from the town of Delaware on land that now includes much of Cleveland. The first post office was established in 1837 and the first store opened in 1840. Brook Park's name comes from a stream that ran through it and provided drinking water for mills near present-day Brookpark Heights and East Cleveland. Brook Park became an incorporated village in 1903. In 1957, it became a city when it merged with nearby east Cleveland. As a city, Brook Park had its own police department and fire departments as well as its own budget and authority to levy taxes not granted to villages or townships. In 2002, Brook Park adopted a resolution recognizing World War II veterans as "Brookpark Warriors". In recent years, Brook Park has seen growth in its economy due to several new businesses opening up along its Main Street corridor such as REI (Red Rock Energy), FirstEnergy (FirstEnergy), Nike LLC (Nike), IBM (!IBM) Campus USA (@IBM_CampusUSA), Ford Motor Company (@Ford_Motor_Company) and more recently KFC (@KFC). Additionally, severalPoints@Home which provides internet service to residents of cities/towns within 12 miles of their home have made their presence known by bringing increased business activity into the town center throughout the day during summer months
Brook Park was founded in 1892 by the Brook family. The first settler, Amos and Fanny Brook, arrived in what is now Brook Park on November 17, 1892. The Brook familyOriginally harvested corn and beans on their farmstead east of the village until they bought a piece of land northwest of the village in 1892. In 1916, the Brock family donated land to make up for part of the original gift from Amos and Fannybrook.
