Brook Park is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,691 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Daytona metropolitan area. The first people to live in Brook Park were the Potawatomi Indians. In 1814, Nicholas Hough and his brother James bought land in what is now Brook Park from the Potawatomi. They named their new settlement "Houghstown." The first white settler in Brook Park was Stephen Prentice, who built a cabin on the west side of town between 1818 and 1819. A few years later, he married Rachel Stoneman and they started a family. In 1830, John Cushman bought land in Brook Park from Stephen Prentice. He named his new community "Cushmanville." By 1840, most of what is nowBrook Park had been bought by settlers. The first post office established inBrook Park was called "Niles" after Niles Township in Northwest Indiana where it was located. Niles became popular because it was short distance from Dayton and Middletown so business could be conducted easily across county lines without having to go through Dayton or Middletown again. It has been used as a church since 1951 when Congregational services were moved to nearby Freedom Methodist Church until that building was demolished during construction of Brown Road Shopping Center back then! There are plans underway to build a new Village Hall on Green Street adjacent to Veterans Memorial Hospital should funding become available . However at this time no timeline has been released for any definite announcement/completion date! On November 6th 1920 Rev Ransom Sweet opened Zion Lutheran Church becoming one of very few churches open amidst prohibition laws being enacted throughout most of America at that time
