Brook Park is a small town in thewestern part of Ohio, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Brook Park is located east of Interstate 75 and north-northwest of Cincinnati. Brook Park was platted in 1810 by George Hays and others as a small settlement on the Scioto River about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of present-day downtown Cincinnati. A post office called Brook Park been established in 1824, and remained in operation until1868. In 1881, part of what is now Brook Park was annexed by the city of Cincinnati; however, most of present-day Brook Park remains unincorporated. The first buildings in what is now BrookPark were built around 1830 by John Day who owned land along the Scioto River near where it currently stands. By 1840, business had taken off in what became known as "Day's Landing". The community grew rapidly due to its natural resources such as timber and coal which were abundant on the creek banks just south of town. Coal production continued to grow throughout the late 1800s untilbrook park closed down due to transportation problems associated with construction projects nearby including railroad yards and mills

It is part of the Dayton–Daytona Beach–Marietta, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Brook Park was founded by English settlers in 1827 as a farmstead on what is now called Nappanee Road east of Dayton. The first post office was established in 1830 and the first store opened in 1834. By 1840, there were 12 residents and 2 stores. The land surrounding Brook Park was purchased from James Witherspoon for $2,000 in 1845 by Elias Hicks and others who had come to start Pickering Township north of Dayton. The community name may be derived from "Brook" (a stream) meadow near where it was located and "Park" (agoing back to 1753 when Sawmill Creek ran through this locality). In 1868, Jno Hocking built a gristmill on Damen Creek which became one of the first mills in central Ohio; it operated until 1938. In 1870-71, George Stephenson built the road between Dayton and Xenia that later became I-70; he named it Stephenson Boulevard after himself. On November 14, 1907 trustees of Pickering Township voted to change its name to Brook Park due to various objections from residents including Lillie Auld who felt her home town should remainPickering Township because she thought it would be more likely for new residents to buy into their community than change an existing name without giving everyone an opportunity to object! Brook Park incorporated as a village on November 3rd 1915 with 45 citizens living in 8 buildings spread over . . . two square miles! It had then grown to 505 citizens by 1931 when annexation of neighboring towns made it 535 citizens! Brook Park was a census-designated place (CDP) in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,601 at the 2010 census. The first community located in what is now Brook Park was called "Rose Hill." It developed around a spring that served as a natural water source for the area. In 1824, the village of Brookpark was organized and named for the creek that ran through it. The name change may have been due to community leaders recognizing that the name sounded similar to "Brooklyn" in New York City. In 1894, part of Stark County became Dayton Township and Brookpark became part of its new municipality. On July 1, 1907, Dayton Township merged with Lucas County to form Greater Dayton. On January 14, 1923, all of Stark County except for Brookpark and parts of northwest Ottawa were added to Mahoning County under the new county organization plan known asarterization. This move increased Cleveland's population by about 20%, making it one of the largest Upland counties in Ohio without Native American land holdings. However, much of Victorian development along Niles Creek had already taken place by this time so no real boom took place until after World War II when Interstate 71 brought more people into town and more businesses opened up on Euclid Avenue which bisected downtown from north to south; this made possible more Rowlett Drive housing developments such as Arbor View Estates and Wellington Gardens east of Euclid Ave., which replaced much older wood frame homes on North Central Street between Euclid Ave./Niles Road/Southwest corner Broad Ripple Circle (just east of Mentor Rd.) etc.; these developments also resulted in many new businesses opening up including several Michigan companies like Wabash Paper Company (now Republic Paper) established here during these years - see rowlett drive map below... This rapid postwar growth led to high levels of traffic noise throughout most or all sections of town including those areas annexed by Arbor View Estates or Wellington Gardens; some residents who could not tolerate high levels cf traffic noise moved out while others found ways to live with less traffic noise though they did lose access to their old streets names etc.; some other residential developments were built near I-71 but none are mentioned here as they are included elsewhere on rowlett drive...
