Brook Park is located in central Youngstown and is bounded by the city of Dayton to the north, Ulysses S. Grant Boulevard to the east, and Maplewood Avenue to the south. Brook Park was organized on December 10, 1814 when three men from nearby Delaware Township voted to incorporate as a town. In 1826, a water line was established through Brook Park and it became one of two communities in Youngstown that received water from Lake Erie rather than from an old wellhead that lay near where present day Elmira Avenue runs. Brook Park experienced rapid growth following World War II as many veterans returned home and began their own businesses in what had been farmland only minutes away from downtown Youngstown. The resulting boom led to the construction of several high-rise buildings including One Liberty Plaza (now headquarters for FirstEnergy), which remainsYoungstown's tallest building after its renovation in 2007; Pioneer Place apartments; and many homes along Elmira Ave., now used for workers' housing developments or office space by local businesses such as CVS Pharmacy and McDonalds restaurants

Brook Park, Ohio is a small town in the west side of the state of Ohio. It was established in 1824 as a result of land acquisition from the Wyandotte and Miami tribes. Brook Park is located on the border of Dayton and Cincinnati. The town has a population of 4,611 as of the 2010 census. Brook Park was named after both Brookfield, Illinois and Brockville, Ontario. The first settler to arrive in what is now Brook Park was John Pritchard who arrived in 1824. He built his farm on what is now Elm Street. At that time there were no roads or schools in this area so farmers sent their children to school at home until they were old enough to go to school themselves. The first school in Brook Park was taught by Mrs Hutton which started up on October 1st, 1825. The first teacher at Brooklyn Female Academy was Mrs Treadwell who taught from September 3rd through November 11th, 1826. In 1830 Mr Fenton bought some land east ofBrookpark and founded Fentonville which included an academy also teaching girls from Kindergarten through High School In 1835-36 Mr James Waddell donated land along Elm Street for a new Methodist church which would serve as a community center and been used for dances and other events until it burned down in 1937 In 1840 Rev George Smith bought some property north off Elm Street from Mr Waddell for $365 Reverend William Laughlin purchased another piece of property just south off Elm Street from Reverend Smith for $425 . On February 15th, 1850 Rev Laughlin moved his family into this house just south off Elm street with four cows bought by him for $110 . This gave rise to the name “Laughlin’s Farmstead” Reverend John Sargeant bought some more land east ofBrookpark during the Civil War for $1125 After several years he sold all but two acres including his house back to Rev Laughlin for an additional sum plus interest In 1865 Reverend James McAleenan purchased 3/4 acre northbound off Elm St NW (now Garfield Ave)from Rev John Sargeant For only $10 dollars cash He built himself a Presbyterian Church out of logs using money borrowed from people around town while still living at Laughlin’s Farmstead From here he began preaching services across Greater Dayton
Brook Park was formally organized on May 12, 1824, when the town of Brookville and the village of Newark agreed to merged. The first settler in Brook Park was Isaac Hinton.
