After a period of decline during World War II, when many residents left for military service or other opportunities abroad, broadwayheights began to experience renewed economic activity in the early 21st century thanks to new construction and development around its golf course and shopping plaza. On July 1, 2013, broadwayheights became an official suburb of Cleveland after being annexed by Cleveland from Warren Township. The name "Broadview Heights" comes from two places: one is on a bluff overlooking Lake Erie where settlers saw views extending as far as Mesa Verde National Park; and another is a bend inriver near Ashtabula County Line Road where travelers could see shipping coming into or leavingportions of Akron from neighboring towns like sapphire blue Bay Village and Euclid Avenue). The name had been given to areas along this bend since before 1800 according to some sources - it may have been derived from "broadvaile", meaning "a wide ravine". The areas that make up today's BroadVIEW HEIGHTS were formally surveyed on October 12th 1836 by Chief Justice John Marshall while he presided over land purchases made pursuant to Genessee & Wyoming Treaty with Great Britain which ceded territory eastward along Lake Erie including what is now central CLEVELAND COUNTY AND BROADVIEW HEIGHTS

Broadview Heights is a neighborhood in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. It is located near the downtown area and is home to many large apartment buildings. The population was estimated to be over 100,000 in 2000. The original name for Broadview Heights was Cedar Hill. It was first settled by Quakers in 1797. In 1802, the United States Post Office moved from its original location on Euclid Avenue to what is now Broadview Heights Boulevard. The community then grew rapidly due to its location and accessibility to streetcar lines that ran through Cleveland. Many major businesses started up here such as J&J Glass Company, Sears Roebuck & Co., Wrigley Building and other stores which continue to operate today. In 1928, the neighborhood became part of the city of Cleveland when it was annexed into the city limits.

The last post office closed on January 1, 1942. In 1850, the first railroad crossed through Broadview Heights and it became an important market for agriculture and trade.
