Many fine homes have been built there since before World War II including two Presidential Libraries: Woodrow Wilson Library and Franklin D. Roosevelt Library (now called Roosevelt Presidential Library). Nearby attractions include Muskegon Hills National Lakeshore and Toledo Metro Airport which serve many passengers with air travel between Cleveland and Toledo-area airports as well as local service from nearby hospitals

The Broadview Heights community was founded in 1836 by James and Sarah Caldwell. The area now known as Broadview Heights was part of the Town of Steubenville, Ohio. The first settler in what is now Broadview Heights was John Sargent who built a farm on the northeast corner of High and Elm Streets. In 1851, Abraham Richardson purchased the farm from John Sargent and built a home there. He also developed a large scale grocery store in the neighborhood which remains open to this day. In 1853, Isaac Nolen bought land adjacent to his house on High Street from Abraham Richardson for $2,000. Nolen built a large brick home there which still stands today. He also opened an extensive bakery and grocery store in the neighborhood which continued to operate until 1992 when it closed its doors due to declining sales. In 1865, Reverend George Weiser established St John's Lutheran Church in Broadview Heights which continues to be operating today. Reverend Weiser served as pastor at St John's until his death in 1926. During his time at St John's, he helped create broad views about Christianity throughout the area including teaching Sunday school classes and conducting religious services throughout the week outside of church windows along Elm Street. - In 1892, because of declining sales at their bakery due to lack of interest from customers., they closed down their business and relocated it to nearby Delaware Township where they continue operations today.- In 1926, Reverend George Weiser passed away leaving behind an impact onBroadview Heights with hisorship that helped shape Christianity here
