Brecksville is a city in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 8,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mahoning County and part of the Cleveland–Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Brecksville was John Crouch in 1812. During World War II, Brecksville served as a munitions plant for the United States government located on Bellefontaine Road just south of downtown Brecksville. This plant manufactured munitions including artillery shells and torpedoes; it also produced aluminum cans for use by military aircraft manufacturing plants around the world. After World War II ended, operations at this plant ceased and it fell into disrepair until it closed down permanently in 1984; today only some remains remaining from this once very important facility are still standing amidst vacant lots southwest of downtown BrecksVILLE

Brecksville is a small town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,644 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Brecksville were three brothers named John, Nicholas and Leonard Breckshire who arrived in 1796 from Virginia. They built a log cabin on the edge of what is now called "the township." The Breckleys remained until 1827 when they moved to what is now the city of Cleveland. In 1828, Samuel Hanks purchased land adjacent to where Brecksville sits and began settlement there. He named his new community after his father-in-law Amos Hanks who had settled in that area two years earlier. The village initially consisted of onlyHanks' home and four or five other farmhouses. In 1850, J[ohn] A[braham] Griggs bought a tract of land northeast of town and began developing it into an agricultural center with large fields for corn and wheat production. By 1860, Griggs had developed over 50 houses, stores and businesses including one hotel which still stands today as the Training School Annexe (now known as The Gilt). Over time many other businesses have been built such as: Griggs post office (1893), medical supply store (1912), auto parts store (1915), grain elevator (1920), car dealership(1925) and more recently; a quarry/mining complex known locally as "The Hills".
