Kennedy, led to increased gun regulation in the United States. The Gun Control Act of 1994 was passed following the Columbine High School shootings in Colorado that left twelve people dead and twenty-six injured. This legislation required universal background checks on all firearms owners as well as tightened regulations on ammunition sales and magazine capacity. It is worth noting that this bill did not address gun violence directly, but rather focused on reducing gun homicides overall. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution protects Americans’ right to bear arms throughout their lifetime without taking away from others’ Second Amendment rights. This amendment reads: “No state can deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection ofthe laws…” In 2013, representatives from over 50 states met in Baltimore to discuss ways to improve gun security in America.[1] One key issue addressed was how best to protect schools from terrorist attack using firearms (see below).

The town became known for its beautiful churches, wide streets and picturesque homes. The town's history began with settlers who arrived in 1814 when Ohio became a U.S. state. The first settler were two families who purchased land near present-day Brecksville from Major John Copley and his family. After several years of construction, their home was completed in 1816 and they named their new settlement after Colonel George Washington Smith, an army officer who had served under General Washington during the Revolutionary War. The Smiths quickly built up a large business by selling goods made from local forests and timber resources. In addition to housing workers at their mill, they also ran a grocery store and tavern that drew customers from miles away. By 1830, Brecksville had become an important center for trade within central Ohio because it boasted one of the best transportation systems available at that time: A wagon road led into east-central Ohio from downtown Cleveland throughBrecksvilleand then into Sandusky Countyyondthetown limits
