Breckville, Ohio was founded in 1824 by John Breck and his family. The city is located on the east bank of the Miami River, about 12 miles north of Cleveland. It grew rapidly during the 19th century as a result of its location and trade routes. In 1870, Brecksville became an incorporated city.
Brecksville is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,362 at the 2010 census. It is the administrative center of Brecksville Township. The first people to live in Brecksville were the Wyandots and Shawnees who were brought over by the French in 1795. The village of Brecksville was founded on November 1, 1805 by Major John Smedley and three other settlers, all Methodists. On October 20, 1814, General George Washington visited Brecksville while on his way to visit Genesee County and its capital Rochester. He stayed for two days and ordered a wagon train laden with food supplies to be delivered to the village at Hudson's Bay Station. On December 3, 1814, Captain David Wilkinson donated land for a parish church in this area which became known as “Brecksville” after him. The first settler to clear land here was Isaac Hulse on July 8, 1830 from what is now Union Township northwest of the village square (now home of I-271). In 1830-31 he built a gristmill which still stands today on Clay Creek east of downtown BrecksVILLE along with another small mill that he built near his home on North Main Street just west of Center Avenue—the first commercial building in present dayBrecksVILLE In 1836–37 John Prentice built an sawmill and gristmill on Indian Hill south of town northeast of clay creek In 1865 James Aitkin opened a general store at 318 West Market Street called "Aitkin's" which continued until 1971 when it closed down due to competition from Sears Roebuck & Co., one of Braxton township's largest employers In 1893 Jno [sic] Biddle bought "Aitkin's" from James Aitkin and renamed it "Biddle's". At this time it became part of headquarters department stores located throughout downtown Akron including Woodward Plaza In 1907 G W White purchased "Biddle's", closed it down again because he could not find enough customers among local merchants willing to open new stores around Akron during WWI; reopened under new name - Gerhard Weisbrot Incorporated circa 1925 In 1922 WG White sold company assets back into gerhard weisbrot company name When WWII began American Tobacco Corporation decided that they would rather have their own distribution network within Great Lakes states than let their products flow through those outside states like Ohio so they set up their own distribution center in Berea Heights outside Dayton Received many letters thanking them for doing this because they felt that without them Ohio would have been bombed or taken over by Germany

Brecksville is a small town in the Cincinnati metropolitan area, and it has been mentioned on various lists of top 10 places to live. It was founded in 1811 by 300 farmers who left Dayton for Brecksville because of the good soil and lack of competition. The population peaked at 1,100 in 1920 but has since decreased to around 600 people. Today, much of Brecksville’s economy comes from manufacturing and agriculture. The town also operates a small grocery store, which is one of the few businesses in town. The first settler in Brecksville was John Ransom who built a cabin near the present day intersection of Erie Road and Fifth Street in 1811. In 1812, Ohio Governor James Kapp offered $10 for each man who brought goods into Ohio with him when he invaded Kentucky. Many farmers decided to move to Ohio because there were no other opportunities back then. By 1830, Brecksville had an estimated population of 400 people and was listed as part of the Beaver County Court District No. 5. In 1880, Jeptha Lunsford bought 640 acres (2 km²) east of Brecksville from Abram Miller for $4 per acre ($136/km²). He named his new land “Breckstown” after his home state – Vermont – where he had been born some years earlier. From here he developed a large dairy farm that yielded milk that was shipped all over the United States and Europe. Lunsford also built two churches: First Baptist Church (1881) and Second Baptist Church (1884). During World War I, many local men volunteered their time or money to help fight in various battles throughout Europe including France, Belgium, Russia etcetera; however only a fraction returned home alive or with medals or honors – most simply went off into battle without any idea what they were doing until they finally came back shell-shocked! On April 15th 1919 while serving as an artilleryman with Company B 2nd Battalion 304st Infantry Regiment (now 116th Infantry Division), John A Curry died during combat operations against German forces at Neuhausen Ridge near Compiegne Italy during World War I; John A Curry will forever be remembered as one of America’s Fallen Heroes!
