Back then, many photographers used simple two-wheeled tripod mounts which were often attached to the camera body with either screws or nails. The simplicity of these mounts made them very vulnerable to damage during photography sessions, so it was important for manufacturers to create more robust and durable scope mounts in order to protect their products. One of the most popular scope mounts on the market today is the Manfrotto Square Tilt Adapter (STA), which has been used by professional photographers all over the world. It is a versatile mount that allows you to tilt your camera up or down 120 degrees FOV (Field Of View). However, there are several disadvantages of this mount compared to other similar options on the market. Bowling Green is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Clark County. The population was 25,859 at the 2010 census, making it the second most populous city in Clark County after Cleveland. Bowling Green is located on the southern border of Clark County and is bordered by Georgetown to its north, Athens to its east, and Mentor to its south. The first permanent settlement in what is now Bowling Green was made in 1792 when an Englishman named John Pickering purchased a tract of land from Chief Whetstone's tribe under the name "Fayette." In 1814, General Andrew Jackson commissioned Major General James K. Polk to survey a post road through what is now Bowling Green as part of his plan for a national highway system. The original route proposed by Polk was truncated when he became president and changed to its current path because Congress did not want to spend money on a new project that would run concurrently with President Polk's other initiatives such as reconstruction following the American Civil War. In 1837, Henry Clay announced his candidacy for president on the platform that he would build a canal across Mexico if elected. When Clay won election in November 1837, he immediately began building this canal which eventually became known as the Erie Canal. After taking office in March 1840, Clay announced his intention to construction an additional road bisectingClarkCountyandbuildinganewtownontheothersideofthesouthernborderofClarkCountyknownasNewMentorTownshipbecauseitwouldbecomethelargest towninOhiountilProspect HeightsCantonwasestablishedinthe1930s.(See map below).Polkcontinuedtoplanthissroaduntil1846whenhequitofficeafterbeingconnectedwithoneofJohn Fenton'sexploitsintotheOhio legislature.) In 1847, Reverend John Woolridge founded Trinity Lutheran Church at what is now University Circle in downtown Bowling Green and started teachsing Classes there three years later.(See Erected monument near intersection of Euclid Street and Main Street) In 1861, Ohio entered into fullUnion with all other states within her boundaries-this event known as Kentucky joining Union (see map below)(See also: United States Constitution). As part of this union process many stores closed throughout much of Ohio due to changes in currency rates which caused goods imported into Ohio from other states to become more expensive than local products even though they were still legal tender under state law.( See: merchants strike; see also: Black Hawk War) In 1865 during Reconstruction efforts led by President Abraham Lincoln some people loyal to Confederate general Robert Ewell surrendered at Perrysburg while others retreated into neighboring Union counties (see map below). An important moment during these efforts occurred when General William Taney pronounced Confederate Gen Richard Swayne guilty of treasonous activity contrary t instructions from Jefferson Davis(See: Taney decision)) On July 14th 1865 approximately 4500 men under command of Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer surrounded Fort Donelson where they were aboutto surrender after being driven out by Federal forces four days earlier (see Battle ofFortDonelson ). A group including Custer decided instead to march back home towards Independence where they encountered Mexican troops who opened fire resulting in three dead soldiers plusCCusterwholay mortally wounded behind cover before withdrawn without further incident.)
In 1815, the first school in Bowling Green was established. It was a one-room schoolhouse on the west side of town. In 1818, a second school was built and named after General James K. Polk, who had fought in the Mexican-American War. The first principal of this school was John Prentice. A third school building and name were erected in 1824 and 1828, respectively. The fourth building, which served as the high schools from 1830 to 1870, burned down in 1865. A new high school building was constructed on Third Street in 1870 and served as that institution until 1959 when it closed due to budgetary concerns. A fifth high school building (now known as Baldwin Hall) was built on Fourth Street in 1915 and served as that institution until it closed due to budget concerns also. A sixth high school (now known as John Prentice High School) was built on Sixth Street in 1951; it served as that institution until its closure due to budgetary concerns also. The current Bowling Green School District is organized around four schools: Baldwin Hall/John Prentice High School; Southside Elementary/Middle School; Westside Elementary/Middle School; and Eastside Elementary/Middle School (grades 5-8).
