In 1871, Bowling Green became the site of the first gunsmiths in Ohio. The town had been growing rapidly since it was founded by pioneers in 1795, and there were not enough skilled craftsmen to support the demand for firearms. So, a group of businessmen pooled their money and bought land in what is now downtown Bowling Green. They built a shop where they did all the work themselves, making rifles and shotguns as well as pistols and revolvers. The Gunmakers Shop continued to be an important part of Bowling Green's economy until 1903 when a new factory was opened in nearby Dayton. This made guns available faster than ever before, which helped to contribute to the city's growth and prosperity. In 1922, the Gunmakers Shop building was sold to another business entity and became known as The Firearms Shop Incorporated. It has been that way ever since!

Bowling Green is a city in Ohio, United States. The population was 26,865 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hamilton County. Bowling Green was founded in 1784 as a small trading post on the high ground between present-day Bowling Green and Cincinnati. The city was named after General George Washington's headquarters at Guilford Courthouse in nearby New Jersey. The first documented game of bowling took place on December 15th, 1784, when three men from Lancaster played against twelve men from Dayton in what is now known as the "Lancaster Game." One man died during that game and it is uncertain who won. In 1820, Bowling Green became one of thirteen townships within Hamilton County and joined the larger metropolitan area of Cincinnati. In 1876, local doctor James Aiken organized a team to compete in an international championship tournament at Portsmouth, England. That same year, Bowling Green became part of the newly created United States Army for World War I and played its first official game on November 11th against military forces from Canada at Canadian Hall on Third Street in downtown Cincinnati.
