Of the 50 homes that were allocated for this purpose, 8 were constructed in what is now Bowling Green. The name “Bowling Green” originated from an area near where the town was later built, which had been used as a bowling green for military purposes since at least 1619. This spot had also been known as “Greene” prior to its incorporation into town status in 1788. In 1836, when Cuyahoga County was created from parts of present-day Akron and Youngstown, Bowling Green became its county seat with over 4,000 residents living within its boundaries including 3200 Irish immigrants who came to work on Cleveland's new canal project during that time period (the first wave of Irish immigration). At that time, there were no public schools in Cuyahoga County so children attended private schools until they reached school age; then they went on to attend public schools outside of the city limits until high school graduation requirements changed in 1936 (prior to which students could only attend community colleges). Like many other U.S.-based communities during this time period, bowling alley amusements took center stage as one means for citizens and their local businesses to generate revenue while providing social opportunities for their residents as well as justifying tax breaks given by government officials/officials' wives/daughters/granddaughters etc.). In fact, one such business active throughout much of this era was The Arcade (later renamed The Arcade Theater) which operated outfitted with a variety of games including billiards and chess among others alongsidethese activities while also serving refreshments such as soft drinks and coffee while hosting live music nightly from 6pm-2am beginning prior to prohibition becoming effective on December 15th., 1915; thereafter all entertainment activities ceased abruptly although some continue sporadically today through various forms like live bands playing at various venues throughout downtown Akron or through online streaming services utilizing blackberrys or iPhones
