Blue Ash is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,095 at the 2000 census. The post office for Blue Ash was established in 1825 and discontinued in 1861. It was again established in 1875 and continues to be held by the Post Office Department. Blue Ash is located in western Hamilton County on the Scioto River. The town is bounded by Hancock Township to the north, Lewis Township to the east, and Summit Township to the south. It includes parts of what are now two villages - Greenfield and Mount Vernon - as well as part of present-day Price Hill Village. The first settler in Blue Ash was John Denton who arrived there from Maryland on July 4, 1800 with his family. He built a log cabin on a bend in the Scioto River about four miles northeast of present-day Blue Ash. A few years later he moved his family farther downriver and erected a more durable log cabin which he named "Denton's Grove". In 1825 (or possibly earlier), John Goodrich built a small frame house near where Denton's Grove now stands near what is now State Route 611/Upper Price Hill Road. This house became known as "Goodrich's House" after its founder. Goodrich served as an officer in the War of 1812 and died during that conflict aged 29 years old while fighting for Native Americans against American forces under General Tecumseh Sherman at Fort Dearborn on April 14th, 1814 aged 30 years old (see also: American Indian Wars). In 1840 Isaac Suggs set up shop over what is today called "Suggs' Bakery" across from Price Hill Village Hall on Upper Price Hill Road betweenpresent-day State Route 611/Upper PriceHillRoadandpresent-dayStateRoute 1274/PriceHillHighway; this bakery continued until around 1960 when it closed because of lack of customers or competition from other businesses within pricehill village; prior to that time it may have been one of only three buildings still standing within pricehill village apart from Original Hall which burned down circa 1870 When Cincinnati businessman George Stephenson donated land at what is today downtown Price Hill Village for a public school district (now Springdale Community Schools), he also agreed to contribute $10 per acre towards building said school; construction began soon after with temporary classrooms being used until permanent structures could be erected; this school District eventually became Hamilton County PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #2; thus beginning our Town's long history educationally! In 1865 Augustus Kelley purchased 640 acres including much of present day Mount Vernon along with some additional land extending into Greenfield., thereby forming Kelley & Company Land Co.; this company operated many stores throughout central Ohio before it merged into JBL Bag & Supply Corp.; however due to bank failures shortly thereafter most all these stores were closed or reorganized into other businesses including MrSweeney's Supermarket which continues operations TODAY! Blue Ash, Ohio was founded in 1788 by Samuel McIntosh and his wife Deborah. The McIntosh family had come to America from Scotland in the early 1700s. They were the first white people to reside in what is now Blue Ash Township. The McIntosh home at 318-320 Main Street still stands today and is a museum of local history.
