Bexley is a town in Clark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The local economy is based on agriculture and services. The first permanent European settlers in what would become Bexley were Methodist missionaries who came to the area in 1803. They named their new settlement after an Australian pastoralist, John Wesley Bexley, Jr., who had accompanied them on their journey from England. The first store opened up in 1812 and by 1830 there were three businesses operating within the town limits: a store, a post office, and a millinery shop run by Mrs. Crouch (née Martin). In 1837–38 another two stores opened up: one operated by George Prentice and the other by Willard McGee (the latter having been founded about two miles east of Bexley). By 1840 there were eleven businesses in operation with a population of 3,500 residents; this number grew to sixteen years later when an additional four stores joined Prentice & McGee’s enterprise and then increased even further when another five stores opened up between 1853 and 1861; during this time period Bexley also became known as “the center of industry” for Clark County because it was home to six major manufacturing plants employing fifty thousand workers during those years: four textile mills (including one that made cellulose acetate), two printing plants (one for lithography papermaking), one blacksmith shop/forge complex, one shoemaking business operated out of a small cottage near the river where shoes were made from horsehair before becoming common footwear in America, several bakers/dairies including Heyward Brothers Bakery which supplied doughnuts to American troops during World War I while they fought on the Western Front In 1915 an express train arrived at Lima Terminal Station located just outside of town carrying mail from all over Ohio bound for Cleveland; soon afterwards shops started opening up along Main Street inside the terminal building with passengers coming into town refueling as they went – thus starting what would be called "the shopping district" around that time which still exists today

In 1824, James Harper settled here and built his own log cabin which still stands today on State Route 666 east of junction with US Highway 628 (now I-675)
