Bexley, Ohio is a city in Richland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 14,689 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bexley is located on the southern edge of Cleveland and has a border with Akron to the east andLexington Heights to the west. The first settler in what would become Bexley was George Fenton in 1811. He built a cabin on land he purchased from John Richardson three years earlier. By 1830, Fenton had two other homes built as well as a gristmill and sawmill in what would become downtown Bexley. In 1836, James Atherton organized the first township in Richland County and named it for his ancestor John Atherton who had settled near Cincinnati in 1795. The Township of Bexley was created under this name on November 14, 1836. On May 1, 1840 David Hargrave donated 640 acres (2 km²) of land to be used for school purposes within what would become downtown Bexley limits today. This donation formed the nucleus around which many later businesses were founded including Wertheim Grain Elevator & Brewing Company (now craft brewery Fat Tire Brewery), American Bank & Trust Company (now First Financial National Corporation), American Telephone Building (later renamed First Midwest Bank), Gibson Glass Works and many others over time! On October 15th 1865 when Union General Ulysses S Grant arrived at Fort Lane to take up his command during the Vicksburg Campaign he stopped at what would become known as "the battle-ground" or "Erie Avenue" on his way into town from White Sands plantation where he was living south of Erie Avenue! The area now occupied by downtown Bexley developed primarily because of this one event! From then until 1945 there were no major military engagements taking place within municipal boundaries; instead events such as World War II led to increased economic development! In 1946 Euclid High School opened its doors after being closed for several years due to financial difficulties brought about by war-time rationing!. Classes began again on September 9th 1947 with some students traveling long distances over daily railroads back home! Many current businesses that are still active today were started during this time including: Euclid Savings Bank & Trust Company which merged with Huntington National Bank in 1955 becoming One Indiana Bankshares; Milt Ziegler Chevrolet Dealership which became Ziegler's Midtown Ford dealership; Chilton's Barber Shop which became Chilton's Hardware store after merging with Bobcats Barbershop Co.; Discount Drug Store #8 located across street from Post Office starting out as Discount Drug Store #7 - becoming Post Office Drugs when it moved across street; Joe's Pizza - opening its first pizza oven Oct 12th 1949; Ruby Tuesday Steakhouse - opening their doors Sept 25th 1951 !"

Bexley is a city in the northwest Ohio Valley, United States. The population was 6,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cook County and part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first European to visit Bexley was John James Audubon in 1825, who brought back sketches of wild animals he had seen in this region. That year, also, Nicholas-Jacques Conte arrived from France with his family and began selling apples from a wagon near today's intersection of State Route 9 and State Route 150. In 1827, American Loyalist Captain David Ralston founded what would become known as Independence Hall on land that now includes parts of downtown Bexley. In 1830, Ledyard Stone built "the first brick building in America" – a two-story frame structure on Main Street between Wabash Avenue and Lafayette Avenue – for Mechanics' Institute (now Cleveland Community College). In 1836, stone laid the cornerstone for Newton Methodist Episcopal Church (later First Congregational) on Market Street; it became one of the largest Protestant churches in Northwest Ohio. A new courthouse was built in 1870 on Park Boulevard east of Summit Avenue; it burned down in 1908 but was replaced by a more recent structure next door. The city annexed Oak Lawn Township effective July 1, 1901; Bexley became its municipal borough that same year when all other local municipalities were combined into Cook County under new government structures established by Governor William McKinley following the October 1898 presidential election. During World War II many industries moved to Bexley because of wartime shortages caused by depression elsewhere in America. After 1945 most manufacturing has left as companies have moved to countries with similar labor costs or found new products or markets overseas
Bexley is a city in and the county seat of Ohio County, located in the central portion of the United States. The population was 592 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city was founded by one of America's earliest pioneers, Gideon Griswold, on July 12, 1800 as an outpost on what would become known as Griswold Township. The name Bexley comes from an early settler's Indian name, "Beechee". In 1812-13, Bexley became part of Delaware County when that state was created from portions of Ohio and Indiana. In 1814-15, it became part of Ironton Township when that township was organized. On January 1, 1830 Bexley incorporated as a city under the laws of Ohio. In 1834-35 Bexley lost its charter to become a town because it did not meet certain criteria set by the board of trustees for townships within Ironton Township; those requirements included having a population over 1000 and having property assessed at $100 or more per acre (the equivalent value then). On October 15, 1840 Bexley had a population of 1123 and met all requirements for reincorporation as a town again; however only 6 residents voted to re-establish their charter with Mayor A C Whipple dissenting. On February 14th 1860 Black Hawk War began in eastern Ohio near present day Defiance Heights and soon spread into what is now northwesternOhio; troops were called up from neighboring towns to help quench this combatant thirst for territory expansionism which goes back many years before Brown v Boardman (1861). One can assume due to this large influx into what would be considered northwestOhio that there must have been some sorta economic development taking place here because early social surveys show evidence that blacksmiths & wagonmakers were already prospering here despite White Resistance efforts even though no blacks lived here during these years! This suggests either business activity increased or people simply moved away during this time frame since without any overt evidence one could make assertions such as this without any real evidence other than conjecture
