This area became known as Browning Township and later became part of Hamilton County when it was created in 1803. In 1811-12, Andrew Jackson made his first trips across the Great Lakes into Ohio while campaigning for president against Phineas Gage. While visiting Park View Cemetery on July 12th 1811 he noted some long poles with lines connecting different points along the shoreline and called them "the Erie Canal." At this time it wasn't yet clear that what he had seen was an object used by Native Americans for trade or something new discovered by Europeans; however he named this tract of land "Ohio Country" in honor of George Washington's borderland between Pennsylvania and Maryland which formed much of modern day Delaware County - thus providing territorial identity for what would become Bexley Township through various sales documents including platitudes like: "'Tis bounded on each side by hills... these hills being high enough to shelter from view any vessels coming down upon us.'" On July 10th 1830, Jeremiah Watkins purchased 1 acre (0 hectares)[4] on lot 11 east from Ebenezer Cook[5] having come overland from Canada that year following his surveyor general appointment with instructions to explore all possible routes between Detroit Lakes junction point near Fort Wayne Michigan via Ottawa River downstream to Lake Huron arriving at Saginaw Bay then continuing upstream until reached Pontiac River mouth where instructions directed him proceed due north upriver 2 miles thence termination

Bexley is a small town in the central portion of Ohio, United States. The population was 5,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bexley's ZIP code is 44002. The first permanent settler in what would become Bexley was Captain John Goodrich, who built a log cabin on a bald hill in 1814. The area became known as Green Township because of the abundance of trees and ferns that grew there. A post office called Greenville was established in 1836, but it closed in 1838 due to lack of mail delivery. In 1840,aders named their community after Sir Richard Burton (1797-1865), British explorer and natural historian who had explored North America for the Royal Geographical Society. At this time, Burton had traveled through most of present-day Ohio and Michigan before reaching Cincinnati. By 1850, Goodrich had sold his land to other settlers and moved away from Green Township; however, he still used the name "Greenville" for his community until 1861 when he changed it to "Bexley." In 1863, General Ulysses S. Grant visited Bexley while on his way to battle at Gettysburg; upon returning home he recommended that Ohioans adopt a new system of Write-in voting for senators instead of electoral votes which would give more power to Southern Democrats over Northern Republicans. This change helped ensure passage of the 14th Amendment which granted citizenship to all citizens regardless of race or color within the United States without having to go through an election process like Virginia did with its Constitution defining women as property owners (and men as sons). By 1870, many farmers had left Germany settle near Akron after being driven out by war efforts there; they founded villages around Akron such as Westlake Heights (now Beachwood), Mayfield Village (now Maple Heights), Parma Heights (now Strongsville), Gahanna Heights (now Mentor) and Berea Hills ( now Euclid). Most Germans who settled in these areas took up farming rather than mining or heavy industry because those were then new fields that were opening up across America thanks to technological advances brought about by railroads and other means during that time period like photography and capitalism becoming popularized during this time period called American Expansionism aka Manifest Destiny which led people throughout America believe that if they could just reach Europe – where things were going good – then everything else would follow suit! One reason why so many Germans moved into rural areas was because property prices here weren’t high enough compared with cities like Philadelphia or Cincinnati where farmland cost $2 per acre/$15 million backthen! So although some German immigrants decided notto farm based on costs vs benefits/opportunities available elsewhere they did move here nonetheless!! As early as 1830 Indian traders living along Cuyahoga River had been selling goods such as maize flour meal occasionally trading with whites along its banks providing access routes between Great Lakes region & India Ocean trade networks bypassing Canada & Mexico City respectively
