Bexley is a small town in central Ohio, United States. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The Village of Bexley is bordered by Delaware on the north, Canal Winchester on the east, and I-271 to the south. Bexley began as a settlement called "Beech Grove" in 1827 on land that had been donated by Colonel John Beecham. The community name was changed to "Bexley" in 1881 after it became an incorporated village. The first white settler in Bexley was George Washington Beecham who arrived in 1827. He granted 800 acres (30 hectares) of land to Joseph Smith for $200 cash and 10 horses. In 1830, Henry Clay purchased 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of land from Beecham and named it "Clay's Fork". In 1831, Amos Kendall bought 3/5 acre (2 ha) of land from Beecham for $10 which he used for his farmstead and barns until 1840 when he sold it to George Ransom for $35 cash and 6 cows. In 1834-35 Edwin Bates built a log cabin near where he now stands on Canion Creek () between what are now Canal Winchester Boulevard () and Delaware Avenue (). On October 14th, 1836 David Denny wrote: “I have just finished driving my team of oxen over those high rails into Beaverdam Creek about four miles below this place - they seem very tired after their long journey - but I trust they will not grumble too much during our journey home tonight!” This document provides evidence that Bexleys early settlers were horse farmers with access to trails leading away from larger settlements in central Ohio

Bexley, Ohio is a town located in the Athens-Clarke County, Ohio, region. The population was 10,569 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1827 by John Bexley and named for his farmstead of that name. In 1837, Bexley became the county seat of Clarke County; and in 1871 it became the second county seat of Athens-Clarke County after its creation from parts of Clarke and Muskingum counties. The original town site is now part of downtown Athens. During the late 1800s through early 1900s, Bexley experienced a rapid growth rate due to its location as an agricultural center on the southern edge of what is now Cincinnati metropolitan area. Manufacturing also played a significant role in this growth during this time period with several large companies such as General Electric and American Telephone Company having their headquarters here. However, by 1907 nearly all textile manufacturing had departed for other parts of Ohio or for foreign countries because of low natural gas prices caused by Japanese imports into America during World War I. This led to a decline in economic activity around here until relatively recently when new businesses have arisen such as digital marketing company APNAP (acquired by Google) and local restaurant chain Red Lobster among others which have helped to revive downtown business activity along with some new housing developments as well (e.g., Pinnacle Tower Block development). Today, much effort has been put into revitalizing downtown Athens including providing more access to public transportation through MARTA commuter rail service; creating more feetpace on Center Street between Fifth Avenue and Ryan Boulevard for pedestrians; and expanding Pinnacle Tower Blocks development which include over 100 units on two stories tall buildings designed specifically for rental purposes within walking distance of most Athenians jobsites or restaurants. One thing that has not changed however is Joblessness Rate which remains close to 20%.

It is the county seat of Cuyahoga County and the second-largest city in that county after Cleveland. Bexley was founded by farmers in 1818 and incorporated as a town in 1826. The area now known as Bexley was part of the unincorporated community of Delaware Township prior to its incorporation into Cuyahoga County.
