Berea, Ohio is a small town in the state of Ohio. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area. Berea is located on the Scioto River and has a humid subtropical climate. The first people to live here were already living here when European explorers arrived in search for new lands to explore in what is now Ohio. They named it after their home country, Berea, Italy. In 1788, General James Wilkinson sold land in what is now Berea to John Clendenin and his brothers-in-law for $2,000 cash. The Wilkinson brothers continued to inhabit and operate a gristmill until 1812 when they sold it to George Washington Owens for $1,500 cash. In 1814, Colonel Nicholas Clark founded the village of Xenia on this land which he named after his fiancée Xenia (née Hensley) of Xenia Township in central Pennsylvania. However, by 1830 there were only six households in Xenia with a total population of ninety that year because most residents had left for other villages within or outside of Berea due to hard times during the Panic of 1829 and problems with malaria epidemics brought about by American troops stationed near Peru Lake along the Scioto River during that time period. In 1830–31 court cases between xenians and farmers over access to water rights resulted in two decisions being delivered: one upholding an earlier decision by Judge Edward Livingston; while another dismissing charges against ten xenians who had attempted unsuccessfully to block passage through their village Creek onto Indian property across from theirs as part as payment for damages done during October 1830 cholera pandemic.[5] Settlers began arriving again gradually beginning around 1840 until 1880 when more than 6800 residents called Berea home including many women who found jobs at local mills or factories through domestic labor opportunities available during this time period such as canning food or making lace[6]. One reason why so many women came was that there were no men working either locally or out west at that time[7], but also because women then could vote and hold office all throughout Ohio starting with county commissioners just like men did beginning in 1870[8]. There are several stories about how these early female residents got involved such as one woman who worked her way up from cleaning dishes at night shift at her local factory before becoming manager herself twelve years later; another woman who started working odd jobs such as driving wagons full of produce downriver before she became general manager responsible for all aspects of operation including marketing and advertising; yet another woman who started out selling eggs door-to-door before becoming treasurer/director]; finally some women even got married while still working part-time jobs doing things like laundry or taking care of children while their husbands went off to work full-time[9]. Eventually there were so many female Residents that they pooled money together and bought their own farmstead where they continue living today known as “Xena” Farmstead #1 which still stands today next door to City Hall across from Cleveland State University

Berea, Ohio is a small town in the northern part of Ohio. It was founded in 1814 by Nicholas Berea and his family. The town was originally named after the Cherokee tribe of Indians who lived on the same land as Berea. In 1868, Berea became an incorporated village. In 1976, it became a city. The population of Berea was 10,812 at the 2010 census. The history of Berea can be traced back to 1814 when Nicholas Berea and his family moved from Maryland to what is now known as Ohio County in order to escape religious persecution. They settled on a grant from King George III which included 2,000 acres (800 hectares) of forested land north of present-day Cincinnati. After some time, Nicholas’s son John built a cabin on the site where he would spend his life working as a farmer and postmaster until 1830 when he sold what remained of the grant to John Hanna for $1,000 cash plus 40 acres (16 hectares) of woods that still stand today outside town limits. John Hanna had two sons: James and David Hennepin who each took over their father’s farm holdings during their lifetimes; James established another farmstead about one mile east of present-day downtown Berea while David eventually bought out James’ holdings and continued farming until he died in 1865 at the age of 86 years old leaving an estate valued at $10 million dollars today). In 1868, when incorporation occurred for what would become then called “Berea Village” or simply “Berea” it had just 5 residents; 2 men/women married/partnered with others within village boundaries; 3 girls attending school within village boundaries but also living separately from boys & womenfolk due to lack thereof – this being accomplished through secretarial services provided by Native American girl teacher Mrs Stevens (the first white woman ever employed full time in any public school system anywhere in North America) – this being done so that all students within village boundaries could participate equally & fairly in common education opportunities offered thereby fulfilling educational needs beyond simple arithmetic skills necessary for survival & productivity on farms during those times period). 2 years later however due to rapidly increasing population densities (& increased agricultural production leadenly resulting in skyrocketing prices for farmland per acre leading many farmers abandoning their properties resultant in decreased populations size making incorporation impossible), incorporation into then newly created City of Columbus possible via petition submitted by citizens (& mayor appointed committee consisting solely Of Citizens) – becoming effective Jan 1st 1870 under new name OF CITY OF BEREA WITH FREE AND DISCOUNTED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO ALL LOCAL AREAS WITHIN CITY LIMITS AS DESIRED BY GOVERNOR). During its early years as a city, Bereas economy relied heavily upon agriculture including raising livestock& hogs which were fattened up with cornmeal fed them using haystack furnaces located near now defunct millrace running through central business district); primary industries include manufacturing such as fabricated metal products(streetlights etc.), plastics(tire irons etc.), medical supplies(sterile gauze etc.), office supplies(fax machines etc.) among other items before gradually diversifying into more general pursuits over ensuing decades culminating with establishment Of Hospitals In 1970 thru 1978 By Dr Fenton Lynch MD On behalf Of City government & management
