Bellefontaine is a small, friendly town in Hamilton County, Ohio. The population was 4,635 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Bellefontaine is located on the Bellefontaine River near its confluence with the Miami and Erie Canal. Bellefontaine was platted in 1817 as a village by trustees of the estate of Colonel George Washington Lewis. The name comes from French "belle" meaning "beautiful." In 1827, John Coker founded a flour mill in Bellefontaine which became one of Ohio's largest mills until it closed in 1978. Bellefontaine has been home to many famous residents including General Ulysses S. Grant and his wife Julia Dent Grant; Wernher von Braun; Dick Gregory; and Loretta Lynn. The town also hosted the annual state fair for over 50 years until it moved to Columbus in 2007. In 2008, Bellefontaine was ranked No. 8 out of 100 communities in America by Forbes magazine making it one of only two towns (the other being Greenville, South Carolina) to make the list four times consecutively since its creation in 1988 (the other being White Sands, New Mexico). In addition to its ranking as one of America's most affordable places to live according to Forbes Magazine, Bellefontaine also placed first among Hamilton County municipalities for livability and quality-of-life rankings released by WalletHub earlier this year – both marks that set it apart from other rural areas across central Ohio."

However, firearms had not been invented until 1795, and at that time, handguns were the only type of firearm available. The first effective handgun was created by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. The first pistol was created in 1797 by John Browning. During the 19th century, many advancements were made in firearms design and construction including moving breechloading arms which allowed for large numbers of rounds to be fired without reloading; this led to increased firepower with minimal ergonomics (the ability of a firearm to be comfortable to hold). Additionally, rifled barrels became common due to their improved accuracy and range. As additional improvements were made such as 8mm revolvers (which later evolved into 9mm pistols) and 12 gauge shotguns, gunfire commenced becoming less regulated and potentially dangerous through increased muzzle velocity which caused projectiles traveling at high speeds (near Mach 5+) to fragment or ricochet off other objects nearby before impacting the shooter directly or passing through them harmlessly harmlessly onto ground troops who may have been unshielded thereby exposing them immediately). This newly developed gunfire presented a unique situation where someone wielding a firearm could potentially take down multiple people or objectives with relative ease while remaining undetected thanks largely to modern optics which permitted shooters to see targets much closer than ever before thus making close quarters engagements much more difficult albeit not impossible given enough practice.). Bellefontaine, Ohio (population: 10,000) is located in the Northwest corner of the state of Ohio. It is bordered by the states of Indiana and Kentucky to the south, and Michigan to the east. The town began as a small agricultural community in 1810 and was named after Belle Isle on Lake Erie. By 1830, Bellefontaine had reached its peak population with over 20 businesses and 350 residents. However, during the mid-19th century many businesses closed due to lack of opportunity or competition from larger towns in nearby states. In 1881, Bellefontaine became an incorporated village when it amalgamated with two other villages – Clintonville to the north and Colerain Township to the south. The incorporation allowed for more responsible government and better economy which helped improve community services such as schools, churches, libraries, post office and fire department. By 1930 there were only 7 businesses remaining in Bellefontaine with a population of just over 100 people. However, during World War II much growth took place in Bellefontaine thanks to wartime production facilities at Chrysler Corporation’s Plant #1 which produced Jeep models for American forces. This growth led to increased business opportunities for local entrepreneurs who started new businesses such as restaurants, crafts shops and stores that continued until 2009 when all but one business closed down due to economic conditions throughout Northeast OhioBG
Bellefontaine was founded in 1788 by John Bellefontaine and his wife Rebecca. The community grew quickly, and by 1811 it had a population of 350 people. In 1815, Bellefontaine became the county seat of Belmont County. In 1825, the community was renamed Bellefontaine Township after John Bellefontaine's son-in-law, Judge James Dutton.
