Bellefontaine is home to the most extensive collection of firearms artifacts in Ohio. The town was founded in 1836 by John Bellefontaine and his family, who were farmers. The Bellefontaine Firearms Museum is open to the public every day from 9am to 4pm. The museum has a variety of firearms including handguns, rifles, shotguns, pistols, and cannons. One of the most famous weapons in the museum is a replica of the Colt Model 1850 revolver that was used by General Ulysses S. Grant at Gettysburg. Bellefontaine also has a rich history with regards to ammunition products. In 1868, Samuel Colt produced what is now known as “Bellefontaine Bullets” which were used for shooting matches and other events at Bellefontaine Agricultural Society fields around Jefferson Township. Bellefontaine is a small town in Jackson County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,512 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bellefontaine was founded in 1821 by John Bellefontaine and his wife Elizabeth Ritchie. The Bellefontaines were pioneer settlers in what is now Jackson County. They named their settlement after two sisters who had died while traveling through the area on horseback. The Bellefontaines were among the first white families to arrive in what is now Akron when that city was founded in 1825. John Bellefontaine became an important figure in early Cleveland politics and served as mayor from 1829 to 1830 and again from 1833 to 1840. He also served as a judge on the Common Pleas Court for Cuyahoga County from 1826 to 1830 and 1840 to 1850. Elizabeth Ritchie was a successful teacher and women's rights advocate who played an important role in developing Bellefontaine into a successful community during its early years. She served as president of the local female Benevolent Society from 1827 until her death in 1865. The town grew rapidly during the late 19th century thanks to heavy industry such as manufacturing, agriculture, logging, and brickmaking; however, it experienced significant economic decline starting around World War I due primarily to factors such as prohibitionism and population growth within neighboring towns that took advantage of BelleFontaine's lack of amenities (such as schools or hospitals). However, some locals began efforts to revive the town during the 1920s under various leaderships including Mayor Earle Haggerty who popularized ice skating on Main Street (now Park Avenue) and sponsored music concerts at Caldwell Hall which helped increase tourism opportunities for BelleFontaine over time. In recent decades, much effort has been put into restoring downtown areas including restauraunts like Brescia's Italian Restaurant which reopened after being closed for 8 years following a fire; renovated buildings such as Caldwell Hall which are now used by local history museums; development along Park avenue which has brought new life back to many businesses formerly located there; and increasing support for arts organizations like Southeastern Ohio Arts Council which helps preserve old performing arts venues throughout southeast Ohio

Bellefontaine is a town in northwestern Ohio, United States. The population was 5,557 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois metropolitan area. Bellefontaine was founded by French colonists in 1792 as a trading post on the Ottawa River. In 1812, it became a town and was named for Belle Isle, an island near Montreal that served as a summer landing spot for traders and travelers. The first store in Bellefontaine was established in 1814. By 1830, the town had a school and four stores. A mill opened in 1834 and soon produced flour for local merchants and farmers; sugar beets were also grown there until 1861 when they were replaced by corn production. In 1847, Bellefontaine became one of twenty two townships created from part of Muskingum County when itwas organized into Ohio Territory; it remained an independent township until 1915 when it merged with Champaign-Urbana Township to form Champaign-Urbana County. Bellefontaine's downtown district is home to severalhistoric buildings including the original gristmill built in 1840 which still stands today and is used as a museum; Belle Fontaines Brewery which closed down in 1984 but still produces beer under license from Anheuser Busch; Stovesmiths Inn which opened in 1907 as one ofChampaign- Urbana's firstpubs ;the old jail where Mayor John Pappagee was shot while he serviced justice complaints on December 12th 1921 ;and John Fenton House (now known as Belmont Hotel) built ca1850 which now houses the offices of the Bellefontaine Historical Society
Bellefontaine was founded in 1797 by Major General James Bellefield. The city was named after the Bellefonte River, which runs through it. The first post office in Bellefontaine opened in 1821. In 1864, the city became part of the newly formed Metropolitan Cleveland area and was renamed Cleveland Heights.
