Bellefontaine, Ohio is a small town in Steuben County, Ohio. It is located on the Scioto River, east of Huntington and north of the city of Cleveland. The population was 7,953 at the 2010 census. Bellefontaine was first settled in 1792 by Anthony Browne and other pioneers from Connecticut. The name "Bellefontaine" likely comes from two local hills – Bellefonte (a peak) and Fontenelle (a naked rock). In 1814, James A. Bone developed a mill on the river near Bellefontaine and began producing flour to export to Great Britain. This mill continued operation until 1846 when it burned down. In 1875, John D'Ammassa founded the Bellefontaine Manufacturing Company that manufactured hats, cigars and other items for eastern markets. This company continued operations until 1958 when it merged with another business to form Jaffe-D'Ammassa Corporation. The new corporation manufactured radios and televisions until it went bankrupt in 1984. The current courthouse was built in 1909 as a replacement for an earlier structure that burned down in 1905. It is one of several vintage structures remaining in Bellefontaine village today including a post office (1898), grocery store (1910), church (1911), blacksmith shop (1896), schoolhouse (1912), fire department station (1920) and library (. . .) It is also home to the Bellefontaine Village Museum which has exhibits about everyday life in Bellefontaine from around 1900 to present day

Bellefontaine is named for General Lafayette, who was born in Bellefleur, France on November 14th, 1762. After spending two years serving in the French army during the American Revolution, he moved to this country and became an American patriot. He helped start the nation's first college and served as its president. In 1812 he married Lucy Parsons and they had six children. General Lafayette died on July 15th, 1834 at age 82 after a long and successful career as an American statesman. Bellefontaine has been host to many famous people over the years including Cincinnatus! In 1865 John Lennon played his first live concert at Bellefontaine Hall while still a student at Liverpool Technical School (now known as Liverpool Institute). It was here that he learned how to play guitar and sing “all those songs we used to do” before graduating to Ringo Starrmania later that year! Today Bellefontaine is home to many interesting attractions like its own amusement park which opened in 1907 andrews air force base which is now used by US Air Force jets; a golf course with 9 holes;an old mill where you can buy local produce from the farmers';a post office;and a few restaurants/cafes like The Grille & Grognard which serve up delicious food all day long!

Bellefontaine, Ohio is a small town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. Bellefontaine was founded in 1825 by General John Bellefontaine and his family. The community grew rapidly after construction of the Erie Canal in 1826 brought trade and industry to the area. By 1830, Bellefontaine had a Methodist Episcopal church, an cotton gin, two businesses and 100 residents. In 1835, General Bellefontaine donated land to create what later became Bellefontaine Park as a resting ground for soldiers during the American Civil War. In 1840, another general named John Mennonite purchased from General Bellefontain three thousand acres (10 km²) of land that included much of present-day Bellefontaine Township. A post office called Bellevue was established in 1840, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1886. The site of today's BelleFontaine Township has been inhabited since before the first Europeans arrived in what is now Cuyahoga County. In 1812 Major George Washington Parke landed on Long Island on his way back from exploration of North America; he made landfall near modern day Bellevue on September 11th at 2 pm EDT on Long Island Sound off present day Staten Island On October 12th 1792 US Marines under Colonel James Ketchum disembarked from HMS "Endymion" at Sandy Hook Bay on Long Island Sound with orders to search for British warships thoughtto be en route to Canada The marines found nothing but rocks and bushes when they returned ashore so they sailed back out into open water where they discovered what appears to have been a large schooner which had been sunken by pirates some time earlier This event led Commodore John Rodgers to order USS Constitution (the first U S Navy ship built) under Captain Nicholas Damerell to sail into New York Harbor with Lieutenant Henry Morgan as her acting captain and explore every inch of those waters for any sign of our enemies or any other vessels which might have gone missing during this time period
Bellefontaine, Ohio was founded in 1796 by the French-Canadian brothers Pierre and Jean Bellefontaine. The town was named for Bellefleur, a small village in Normandy. The Bellefontaine family operated a distillery and a tannery until 1813 when they sold the land to James Wilkinson. Wilkinson built the first gristmill in 1814 and developed the town into an agricultural community with grain mills, cheese factories, hotels and stores. In 1865, the Wilkinsons donated land to create Bellefontaine Park which is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ohio.
