Grant arrived to lead his army into battle against Confederate General Robert E. Lee, Bedford was ready and willing to fight. But something else was also stirring in the town: fear of guns. The Bedford rifle case is one of the most famous firearm cases in Ohio. The defendant, Johnnie Caldwell, was convicted of felony murder after shooting and killing his wife, Dee Dee Caldwell. He appealed his conviction and obtained a handgun permit from the Bedford police department. He then went to the Caldwell home in order to shoot her. Caldwell's attorney argued that the gun permit should have been revoked because he had not been a law-abiding citizen before getting it. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the gun permit was valid because Caldwell had complied with all requirements set forth by the state.
Bedford, Ohio is a small town in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 7,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. It has been called "the capital of the Midwest" and "the Athens of America". Bedford was founded in 1795 by General David Coxe and named for George Bedford, 1st Baron Dunster (1714-74), who had served with distinction as an officer in the American Revolution and as Governor of Massachusetts from 1776 to 1779. In 1802, Bedford became a county seat when it was included within Warren County. It grew rapidly during its 19th century heyday as one of the largest cotton towns in America and became an important center for education and industry. During World War II, Bedford was one of three communities in Ohio designated as "dummy cities" by President Franklin D. Roosevelt because they were not located near any military installations or major industrial facilities.—The other two were Cleveland and Akron.—In 1948, when Dayton became an independent city, Bedford lost its status as a dummy city but remains popular with visitors today for its historical significance
There has been a lot of debate surrounding the legality and morality of hard gun cases history. In 1903, Attorney General Amos Tapp ruled that it was legal for Americans to own handguns without registration. This decision marked the beginning of the Gun Culture Revolution, which saw tighter regulation of handgun ownership by the government. In 1911, Congress passed the National Firearms Act Amendments which made it illegal to possess any automatic or semi-automatic firearm that could fire more than five rounds per minute. Automatic weapons were defined as machineguns and semiautomatic firearms were defined as pistols with three rounds per minute or less capacity. This amendment also banned all pistol caliber ammunition except .22 calibers and rifle ammunition up to 12 gauge. These regulations stayed in place until 1934 when they were repealed by legislation known as The National Firearms Act Amendments of 1934 (NFA). From 1934 until 1986, handguns were still considered exempt from most federal laws governing firearms possession and use. However, this exemption ended when NFA went into effect statewide on January 1st, 1966. Under NFA’s new regulations all handguns must have a serial number and be registered with the FBI before being possessed or used within America [1]. This registration process has led to significant increases in handgun confiscations across America over the years[2]. It is interesting to note that although handguns have long been seen as potential threats to public safety, this view began shifting during the Gun Culture Revolution – after 1986 handgun possession became increasingly punishable by law[3]. Despite its dangers, handgun possession remains an incredibly popular activity across America and continues to grow in popularity even today! While some individuals may argue against keeping hard gun cases history Alive®, I believe that their importance cannot be overemphasized – especially given how often guns are used in dangerous situations both past and present

The town was founded in 1796 by Captain John Bedford and his wife Sarah Shortridge Bedford as a trading post on the Miami River between Fort Dearborn and Easton, Pennsylvania. In 1819, Captain Bedford donated land to form what became known as Bedford Township, which included all of present-day Bedford County. On July 1, 1827, Carroll Township was established from parts of Bedford Township; it merged with Lancaster County on January 1, 1830. With its establishment as a township came an increase in development; brickmaking began in earnest here in 1836 and other industries soon followed such as agriculture (the first cotton gin being built here), printing and carriage manufacturing; construction boom during World War II led to many new jobs in munitions production
Bedford was founded in 1796 by James Bedford and his wife, Susannah. The town was named for General George Washington. Bedford had a population of about 100 people when it became a city in 1811. The first school opened in the town in 1800.
