In recent years, however, some new businesses have begun to take root in Bedford including a hotel and restaurant called The Lodge which opened in 2009, along with two large-scale development projects - One being an apartment complex called Riverview Place which began construction in late 2013 and will be completed by 2016, while another project - dubbed "TheVillage" - is currently under construction that will comprise over 200 homes across three phases arrival from 2020 onwards.

The town's history can be traced back to 1814 when George Bedford and his family moved from London, England to what is now Bedford, Ohio. After several years of living in a small cabin, they built their first home on land that they purchased from Chief Tecumseh. In 1826, George's grandson John Bedford donated land to form what would become the east side of today's town center. In 1828, Abraham Lincoln visited Bedford while he was campaigning for president and praised its location for its fertile soil and easy access to water resources1. This visit helped start an important friendship between President Lincoln and local citizens2. When America annexed Mexico after Mexican War (1846-48), Bedfords decided it would be best if they left Mexico before American troops arrived3. They returned to England in 1850 but continued to send parcels of food and other supplies until 18624 when hostilities ended5. After American victory over Confederate forces at Gettysburg in 18636, many farmers in northern Ohio migrated south7 due to cheap labor opportunities8 afforded by Reconstruction policies9 which aimed to rebuild America after its devastation during the Civil War10. As these migrants came into contact with old school friends from England (eager for gossip about post-war life), some began exchanging stories about life back home11 – including tales about growing up aroundGeorge Bedford12 who had opened a grocery store in Derbyville13 some time earlier14! Many people from Bedfords original village have still congregate there today15 as descendants continue farming homesteads along theMaumee River16!
Bedford is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Bedford County. The population was 38,521 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Bedford County after Frankfort and Springfield. The first permanent settler in what is now Bedford County was Nicholas Redding, who arrived in 1788. He named his land "Redding's Township" after himself. In 1801, John Porter moved from Connecticut to take up a homestead on what is now Grafton Street in Bedford Township. The first post office was established in that location on April 14, 1802. The Ohio General Assembly passed an act incorporatingthe township on May 10, 1802. It was formally incorporated as a city by an act of the Ohio Legislature on December 12, 1809. The original boundaries of Bedford City were limited to those portions of Euclid Avenue east of Canfield Road south to Brushy Creek and west to Cincinnati Street; but this limits were later amended by acts adding parts of Clinton Township (now part of Delaware), Scioto Valley (now part of Kent), and even parts of Fort Wayne (now part of Indiana). In 1830, much development took place around downtown when Andrew Carnegie founded Carnegie Steel Company there with his brother David Carnegie and others starting steel production northeastward out into Morgan counties until their plant became operational near Dayton two years later; this area also included much current crime ridden neighborhoods like Riverfront Park which borders large casinos along I-71 which has made it one some popular tourist destinations for gaming purposes just off Interstate 71
