In 1851 entrepreneur John Dolan opened what would become known as Dolan's Dairy which later merged with Danone Foods Corporation to form Danone/Fruitine Foods Incorporated in 1984 In 1870 David Sanger opened Sanger's department store on High Street which would go on to be one of downtown Dayton's leading stores for many years until it closed in 2000 In 1916 Bethlehem Steel Corporation laid down its steel plant here which produced munitions for World War I and II The current skyline view looking westward towards Middletown can be seen from across Third Street Bridge just past where FirstEnergy Stadium will soon stand
