The name "Bedford Heights" originates from the village of Bedford in Delaware County, New York. The first weapons used in battle were spears and bows and arrows. The town was founded in 1824 by Nicholas Bedford and his family as an agricultural community on the western edge of what is now Cleveland. In 1830, Bedford Heights became part of the newly created Township of Cleveland. In 1836, it became a part of the new Village of Bedford Heights. The population growth in Bedford Heights was due to its location along Canfield Road and its proximity toCLEVELAND OF AMERICA Railroad lines which led to increased production for local farm products and manufacturing throughout the region. The village quickly developed into a bedroom community for downtown Cleveland with many homes being built between 1851 and 1860s when passenger trains stopped running through Cuyahoga County because of construction projects associated with the opening of Cleveland's first tunnel under Lake Erie! In 1965, when Euclid Township merged into Cuyahoga County, Bedford Heights remained within Euclid Township but annexation by Warren Municipalality followed in 1971 which effectively made it an unincorporated area surrounded byWarren Municipalality &Cleveland City proper. In 2000, Warren Municipalality annexations were repealed effective May 1st so that all activity within unincorporated areas ends on that date including incorporation into other municipalities nor does this apply to cases where an incorporated municipality annexed an unincorporated area previously considered part thereof- such as case with Delaware Park which took effect on November 1st 2009 after Amherst Township annexed Delaware Park from their predecessor township!

Bedford Heights is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bedford Heights is located on the southern edge of Mahoning Township and it is bordered by Southeastern Boulevard to the east and North Avenue to the west. The first settler in what would become Bedford Heights was David Krieger in 1812. Krieger built a cabin on his farmstead near present-day Bedford Heights High School. In 1813, John Hennepin opened a tavern called The Gentry which served as a stopping point for travelers between Akron and Canton. By 1816, enough residents had gathered around The Gentry that they decided to founded their own community, which they named Bedford Heights after General James Bedford who led American forces during the War of 1812. In 1824, George Stephenson erected an Iron Works and Machine Shop on what is now Business Loop Road in what would become part of town limits with current-day Whitehall Township (now Mahoning County). This workshop became one of the earliest companies in America to produce railroad cars. The following year saw another milestone when Engine No 4 was built at the works by skilled workers from Pequot Lake Company (later Erie Railroad) and Little Miami Bridge & Iron Co., bothLocated just north of town lines today withinMahoning County boundaries ! steamboats also played an important role during this time: In 1830s two vessels called "Hannibal" were sunk about 12 miles southeast of town off US 11 near present day Cincinnati while carrying settlers en route from Marietta to Springfield; all 10 passengers were lost! A number of later notable events took place here including: On July 5th 1865 – Union General Ulysses S Grant's troops burned down parts of Bedford Heights after being refused passage through because they did not have proper passes !!! On October 3rd 1886 – John Paulding became Mayor after winning against incumbent Nathan Berryhill !!! More recently most notably some remains associated with this period are those belonging to Paulding's Mansion which still stands across Whitehall Road from its original site according to some sources dating back as far as 1840 !!
